For those who are thinking about investing in foreign currency, such as the Euro, this thread is not for you.

Some good news is that my dad just finished the Euro mount for the antelope that I harvested in Wyoming yesterday morning:

My dad is working on his Euro mount right now...

Man...that sure beats the typical one year wait from the local taxidermist !

With my dad, it's one of those twenty-four hour things.

Doc is that the actual skull of the antelope? If so, that was fast.

Its a beauty so don't take this as a negative in the least. Is that a coyote skull?

Its just not what i imagined the skull of an antelope to look like. Its just seem wider etc

and I aint even started drinking, but I do have 20/400 vision

Yep, that is the actual skull and horns of the antelope that I harvested yesterday morning.

wow,
I guess its just that I have never taken an antelope living this far east, but had the great pleasure of getting a pic of one last year in AZ on the way to the Ditch aka THE grand Canyon.

may I ask how you finished it?

Use bleach, boil etc...

I have boiled a few whitetails recently but you have to be careful not to scorch the horns.

thanks in advance Doc:)

Where's the knife you used on it? That one has to be a stunt double - there's not a scratch on it!

Nice hunt and mount.

That's the same knife (SJTAC) after it was cleaning up, using hot water and nylon brush, followed by WD-40. Here it is right after dressing two antelopes:

The SJTAC sliced, sawed, and chopped. And, it is still shaving-sharp.

Nice pics, and yes, your dad did a very nice job. I hunt and I have never even heard of a Euro style mount. I like it though!

its normally a bleached skull & horns

around here its common to put it in an ant hill for a week or two...never seen it done in one day before

I can't wait to add this Euro mount to the other five antelopes that grace my office wall at Adobe Systems:

Not really. You know that mentality in California and elsewhere that is referred to Diversity in the Workforce? I think of it as a door that swings both ways.:thumbup:

I have had antelopes gracing my wall since 2004 (it was harvested in October of 2003, and the full mount wasn't ready until mid-2004), and have added one every year since then. I have never been asked to take them down. In fact, I submit an official Facilities Request when I have a new one to put up. :D

Very cool! That's a nice mount! I used to prep skulls for a Native American supply house. A turnover of less than 72 hours is incredible!
Congrats to you and your Dad.
