I just finished watching Deutsche Welle's (DW-TV) "Auto Motor and Sport" television show on the local PBS (Public Broadcast System) channel here in Tucson, Arizona, USA. I must say I enjoyed it very much for its fresh perspective on cars and driving in general.
That got me to thinking about a BBC television show I watched in the Netherlands on Sunday night about 10PM. I remember some particularly good segments where they had a group of average guys come in and race on a test track in delivery vans or a little Suzuki 4 door sedan. In one episode, they had a "battle of the religions" where a group of pastors (or equivalent leader) from all the major religions, race a Suzuki 4 door sedan around the track. Each week, I looked forward to that part of the show because it was such a laugh riot with commentary provided. They also had good segments that talked about where the smokin' good deals on the econo-box of the moment were. They also had good segments on a wide range of cars where good and bad points where discussed. The celebrities that came on (whether an actress or an athlete), each raced that much abused blue Suzuki 4 door sedan mentioned above, around the same track and had their time posted on the wall of shame (or something like that). I wish I could remember the name of that show.
Does anyone else enjoy these shows? How do you find them? Where should I be looking to find some more of them?
Enough with the advertising ladened and biased automotive shows available here in the USA; point me towards some good European television!
