well my band will be going on tour through Europe for 3 weeks from feb - march. 10 countries. I was planning on bringing along my BM D2 grip. or my Spidie SS PE Cricket. I have no idea if there are laws against locking folders. Anyone have any insight? thanks

There are no problems with folders in Poland. There`s no (at the moment) conditions upon the lenght of blade, locking mechanism etc. You must not posses blade in cane or the other item that doesn`t look like weapon. Visit Poland, and enjoy true freedom for possesing a knife!!

There is no problem with carrying single-edged non-automatic knives in Germany. There is no blade length restriction. Just make sure it is not some knife intended for fighting (yours obviously are not).

Summary for Germany:
  • MUST NOT be automatic (there are exceptions...)
  • MUST NOT be push button/switch gravity operated (i.e. opening a BM 610 by gravity is fine. You don't manipulate any switch to open it)
  • MUST NOT be double edged if carried at public events (you may carry one while camping/fishing/hunting/etc. but there better don't be a public barbecue at your camp site then). Even an indicated double edge COULD be considered prohibited here (i.e. Lone Wolf Harsey Tactical Folder LC14700 MIGHT BE no good for carrying in public -- so don't do it).
  • Blade MUST NOT be 90° to the handle (?fist knife?)
  • MUST NOT be a balisong
  • SHOULD NOT be intended for fighting (You will be WAAAAYYYY better off with a utility/hunting/diving knife before a judge should you ever be tried in connection with that knife than with a defense/tactical/fighter knife)
  • No blade length restriction (However, a machete in public will not be appreciated.) I THINK you also must not carry a sword but neither do I know that for sure nor do I know when it stops being a knife and starts being a sword.

This may sound like a strange question but is it legal to own a machete in England? I'm fed up when going to the carribean opening coconuts with a small 6 inch blade. A machete would make my life so much easier! (I spend 2 weeks or so living off the land so a small knife is a little tiresome)
