European orders

After reading the announcement for European customers by Jerry Busse I suppose that I’m unable to order any knives directly from the Busse Company Store because I live in Sweden. Realising this I had a look at Busse Combat Germany but the order page on that site seems to be down and no knives are currently in stock.

Does this mean that European customers can’t order any knives for the moment? Please let me know if this is correct.

Hello!

The "war boar" cannot be imported by us. It would be illegal in Germany.
We are waiting for new models.

Huh! you can order from the bussecompanystore! no problemo, i live in The Netherlands and have bought a couple from Skunk, and will continu to do so until my CC melts from the INFI-overexposure  Only problem might be the customs, they missed my HH mag this time around so i'm a happy piglet with even more attitude :p

Git-R-done, start your INFI shopping spree with confidence! :D

Hello Shindendojo!

I would prefer to order from you when the new models arrive but in the meantime I was thinking that I could order directly from the Busse Company store if this is ok.

Hello knifeman!

I'm happy to hear that ordering from the company store obviously is an option for Europeans despite the announcement by Mr Busse. I suppose I just have to stay away from the War Boar and similar knives.

Thanks

H-T-L,

I know that the European shipment decision was a very tough one for Jerry to make.

There was an increasing frequency and number of items confiscated by customs or simply "lost" in shipment.

Given the Busse belief in total customer satisfaction, items were re-shipped.

Some second shipments were again stopped by customs, and appropriate refunds made to the customers.

That meant Busse was now out at least one, maybe two knives, plus shipping costs and labor expense.

A few times it was found that inappropriate "lost" claims were made, resulting in double shipments for no reason.:grumpy: :thumbdn:

Given the wide and varying customs laws, along with the few who decided not to play right, the decision was made to curtail European shipments.

I do know that some people, who have trusted contacts within the US, have had their contacts buy the product, then the contact makes the shipment. Don't know if this is an option for you or not.

And, as Dirk has noted, some models, simply by design, are illegal in some countries.

As Dirk & Company can offer products, they will have them up and posted.

Good luck man.
Mike

Thatmguy,

I’m sorry to hear about the knives stopped by European customs and I’m shocked to hear about the individuals trying to get more knives than they pay for.

I have recently ordered a couple of 18 inch khukuris from a very nice lady in Reno without any problems. I got a letter from the customs office at the airport where they asked me to explain what a “khukuri” was. They examined the knife and I had to pay a customs fee but that was all they did. It was not classed as a forbidden item. One time I called the customs office and asked about the rules for big knives. The answer was that the Swedish customs will only stop knives that are made purely for fighting, like automatic knives, kerambites (War Boar for example), throwing stars etc.

Obviously the UK is excluded from the list of problem countries in Europe. What about Sweden? We Swedes are not gentlemen like the people in the UK but at least we have a reputation for being a bunch of honest and easily fooled guys! ;)

I’m new to the world of Busse knives and unfortunately I have no trusted contacts within the US I can use. It seems to me that the simplest and the most secure solution for Busse Knife Company and the European customers would be to ship a big box full of knives to Dirk and he could put up a European Busse company store.

Well, maybe I’m just too impatient. I suppose I have to wait. At least my wife is happy that I cannot order from the Company Store right away! :D

Thanks

did you know that the "skunk" is half Swedish?

and he would never prevent another viking from having good steel

One of my Grandpas, I can trace some of my ancestors back as far as 1400
John Peter Anderson LIND
Birth: 6 Jul 1842
Stra Forsamling, Linkepings Lan, Ostergotland, Sweden
Death: 23 May 1920 Lynn, Utah

Another great great maybe great Grandpa.
Erick ANDERSSON B: 25 Dec 1789
Ostra, Touerud, Ransberg, Swdn
D: 3 Nov 1821
Kyrkefalla, Sweden

Idahoskunk,

Interesting to hear that your ancestors are from Sweden Skunk. I can recommend reading The Emigrants, The Settlers and The Last Letter Home by the Swedish novelist Vilhelm Moberg.

And a big thank you for the kind offer to provide steel to a fellow viking! Appreciated!

Yes some of the berserkers are definitely still around here. I suppose if you can’t beat them, you may join them instead!:D Therefore I’m looking for some good Busse steel and I will definitely buy something if I’m able to. Right now I have unfortunately spent too much money on mead and I have to wait for the longships to arrive before I can get some steel again! ;)

Thank you Skunk!

Our country is said to have turned a lot calmer after the most insistent berserks took off westwards in longships. And in another forum thread, we see proof of how their ancestors still are drawn to wild adventures on the water, even intuitively cutting up slices of lemon to protect them against scurvy. Using carefully selected quality tools, of course. And it's all good.

Any shipment of INFI for the old world will be honoured with ample amounts of ornaments for your a:s and o:s. Like this:

Mr. John Peter Anderson LIND,
Strå Församling, Linköpings Län, Östergötland, Sweden (Sverige)

Looks great, eh?

Happy trails!

Well the Swedes were mostly peasants. The true vikings......the Norwegians, needed a continuos flow of mead to fuel their healthy appetite for exploration and adventuring(Looting and pillaging). Having subdued peasants as neighbours resulted in more time to pursue the above mentioned activities;)

the Norwegians must have been a randy lot as the Beatles even wrote a song about their "Norwegian Wood"

pretty much all the viking spoke Scandinavian tongue, i know as we supply most all their INFI.

Sorry to but in.
The best way to get a American made knife is to order and have the knife shipped to a trusted friend in the US. Then ships it to you in Europe with a lower value declared so that VAT will not be so harsh. Customs would not know the true value of a HOSFH LE trust me on that:D For the average guy it looks like a ....say a $50 knife;)

Just some advice from a Viking:)

Cheers,

André

Did you get the HOFSH LE in your hands yet?

I ordered directly from the Company-store and it made it to Sweden just fine (Karlstad to be precise) Big  for the Skunk!

Botolfs,

Thats good news! Nice to hear from someone in the same neighbourhood. Did you just fill in the order form and nothing else? Or did you contact the Skunk as well? Still learning this................. :)

It is not wise to falsify official customs documents. I believe that is a crime, and is not condoned or encouraged on this forum.

Please do not recommend breaking laws here.
