Hi,

I just saw the "sticky" thread that says "no more shipping from bussecombat.com to Europe ... except UK", and suggests that europeans should buy from bussecombat.de . Could you please answer a couple of questions:

How does this policy apply if an european customer orders from bussecombat.com (european billing address) and has the knife shipped to someone he knows in the USA?

What's the deal with the price difference between the two sites? For example, the Meaner Street is $227 +S&H on bussecombat.com and $362 +S&H (298Euro) on bussecombat.de.
If I buy from bussecombat.com, pay $15 for UPS shipping inside USA, pay $25 for USPS Global Express to France and pay 25% custom fees, we have a total of... $324, shipped.

Hello flava!

I can answer some of your questions.

First, please excuse that our english section is not finished. Otherwise you would know that shipping in Germany is included in our prices. Customers from other EU countries ususally pay the difference in shipping costs, I assume that for a package to Paris we would charge you 10 – 15 Euros, depending on your prefered payment method. The shipping costs will be determined after your order comes in and you will be contacted about this.

As far as the price difference I will take your example of the Meaner Street for $ 227.
With your shipping costs of $ 40 the total is $ 267.
Next is the EU tax on knives with a fixed blade. That is 8,5% = Total is $ 289,70.
I assume the knives will be sent in November, the November penalty tax in the EU for US made knives will be 13% = Total is $ 237,36.
After that your countries sale tax will be added, in Germany it is 16% (don´t know the french sales tax) = Total is $ 379,73.
$ 379,73 = Euro 312,07 + 1% fee for your credit card.

Our price for the knife (298 Euros) + the estimated 10 Euros for shipping is 308 Euros.

You see the “real” costs are pretty much the same, depending on the french sales tax.

If you order your knife at bussecombat.de you will also have the possibility to order fine handmade leather or kydex sheaths that will come WITH your knife and safe you extra shipping costs.

Have a great day!
Dirk

The only drawback in this procedure is that you don't have access to the military overruns. You will not find them on the German website or forums at www.bussecombat.de - which is a pain, especially with the last overrun ... :grumpy:

At Dirk's request, we have reserved a number of EU-17s for Busse
Combat Germany. You need to contact Dirk in order to get your name on
the list.

Good luck! There are a number of guys over here that did not get in
on the EU-17s. Thanks to Dirk, you now have the opportunity to get in.

Thanks Jerry!

Way to go Dirk! :D

By the way, what the heck is a November penalty tax? You guys get penalized for buying knives in November? What's up with that?

 That's what I was going to ask?? Sounds like another asinine way to discourage knife sales. Tell me I'm wrong?

Hi Progunner, Hi Nic!

That tax started it March this year at 5% and every month 1% will be added.
It does not only apply to american made fixed blade, but to many many other american products imported to the US.
I don´t have the exact background, but it is a reaction of the EU about the US´s neglect of certain international trade laws.

If anybody has more info I would be glad to hear about it.

I always thought it was because of the steel industry in the US still being heavily subsidized by the US government ... anyway ...

PS: Dirk, have you received my email regarding the EU17?

Thanks to Jerry and Dirk! :D

I have to take back my statement in my first post. In fact I do have to stress out the point that you do have access to the military overruns via Busse Combat Germany. :D

Yowza!!!!!

Best regards!
