My daughter's birthday is coming up next month, and she's of an age where she needs a good knife. Now that she's in Scouts, she'll have an opportunity to learn knife and fire skills.

The Scouts camp here in Sooke has an archery range. Through the generous assistance of everyone's friend, Joe Paranee, she will also be receiving a bow, arrows and all the accessories she'll need in order to learn something she's already really interested in. Just wanted to give Joe a shout out, since he was SO awesome helping me out with everything. Thanks again, Joe! My kid's ready for the Hunger Games :D

At any rate, I just received this knife- The Companion- from Brian, and I just had to share it with the forum. It's such a fine little blade! There is only one edge on this knife, and keen it is. Everything is rounded off and extremely comfortable in hand. The sheath fits perfectly, and a disassembly tool is included.

The thing that blew me away right off the bat is the packaging. Extremely tidy and attractive, ready for gifting. Everything is so well thought out that even a non knife person, (they DO exist, although I'm not sure how, lol!) could really begin to appreciate the nuances of knife design.

Although this knife is mid tech, and not fully custom, I think it might be the perfect door opener for a person who might be swayed toward custom knives. So, keep Brian in mind come Xmas or another opportunity to give the gift of knife!

when my child shows an interest in something, I'm honoured to accommodate, and doubly so when it's something that interests me :)

hey, that's a great idea! Might be a few days, goin on a roadtrip :)

You should have been an 'Ad Man" Lorien. ;) As a great advertisement for Evans Knife & Tool leading into the Xmas season.

Same with me Lorien, the more positive interests children have the better. My 3 year old grand daughter has a little knife collection and every time we have guests she proudly marches them over to the display cabinet and points out which are her's.

Lol! Thanks Kevin. I don't know how well I'd do if I were paid to do it, but I do enjoy it as a hobby :)
Plus, there is much gratitude in seeing people succeed, and even more if I can help in some small way to achieve.
