I'm from Evansville, Indiana and am looking for tools made by Evansville Tool Works (axes, hammers, etc.) Anybody have any for sale? I'd prefer unrestored, but would be interested in any.

Hello Copperheaded! I have a Evansville single bit that i use all the time. Sorry but its not for sale.
Since your from Evansville you would think that they would be plentiful there. Is there anything left of the factory? Know anybody that used to work there?
I love hearing the history and stories.

I just recently found out about it, so I don't know much. I'm trying to find out what I can. I believe the building was torn down in the last few years. I think the company shut down in the 40's. I am going to hit some antique shops and garage sales this summer to see if I can find some. Most of the eBay listings are shipping from Oregon.

Oregon seems great if you are in the market for double bit axes (swamping especially) and pulaskis.

Here is an Evansville Pulaski that I found near ZigZag, OR:

I set up a 3.5lb Evansville Michigan pattern for a friend and just from the two I've handled they seem like quality tools.

I'll keep an eye out if you like.

I would be interested in seeing what you find and hear about the old works.
BTW , I am 50 miles west of Philadelphia in PA. I see a lot of Plumbs around here, the factory was in Philly.

Copperheaded, I have two Evansville claw hammers. (1) "Evansville Defender" stamped on left cheek, handle decal "DEFENDER Evansville Tool Works of The American Fork & Hoe Co, Evansville, Ind., USA" no apparent wear, some tool box marks, "16 OZ" stamped on handle end, and (2) "Evansville Good Service" stamped on left cheek, handle decal says "Drop Forged Head - Expertly Tempered - Evansville Good Service Quality Tools - Evansville C-K-R Div, The American Fork & Hoe Co." Handle stamped "16 OZ".

Are you still interested?
