Been having problems with 1095 for a while. Wasnt getting hard no matter what I did. Yesterday i fired some more 1095 and just decided to check with a magnet. NOPE STILL MAGNETIC AT 1475, 1480, 1495 then at 1500 went non magnetic and quenched and got some hardness. Today i put a container with table salt and I am at 1510 and the salt is not melted. I read that salt melts at 1475. Hmm. So now I have to figure a good way to actually work around the temperatures being off. Any suggestions?

Replace the thermocouple.

Does it have a calibration option? My DIY oven has a PID controller that can be calibrated with the thermocouple. I just used ice and boiling water as a two point calibration.
