A while back I made some modifications to my Buddy’s Cold Steel Spartan. I think it’s now one of the most wicked folders in the world. I’m also sure there are many other mean knives that have been made even meaner by you fine people that would be fun to check out.
Let’s see some pics!
Cheers,
Scdub
-Mods: Grind the clip point into a trailing point, mirror polish the blade, sharpen/mirror polish the edge at 15 degrees per side, stipple the handle scales, polish a little Spartan bead I found online, tie up a fob.

Beautiful work. You made an already awesome knife even more kickass. That clean polish in particular is just excellent.

Post it as well over at the Cold Steel forums. I’m sure a lot of folks over there will appreciate it.

I’m gonna keep rolling this ball...

Swamp Rat Custom Shop Desert Storm Fighter when I got it:

Wonderful feeling knife but I wanted a little more substantial guard, so I carved in a more abrupt stop. I also convexed the edge. This is after the modifications and a backpacking trip:

And here’s another before and after of the guard. Pretty subtle, but definitely meaner. :)

Thanks a lot! I’m not gonna lie - polishing the hollow grind was pretty time consuming/tricky.

Ok - this was an actual barn find.
14” Ontario butcher knife that had been used hard and put away wet, and then apparently forgotten about.
The blade and handle needed re-profiling due to rust, so I added a small sub-hilt, enlarged the guard, and added a subtle trailing point. Blade is pretty lively now. Still working on a sheath but making a brass chape is more difficult than I expected...
BTW I can keep this thread going by myself for awhile if I have to but I’d still like some company...
Pics??
Let’s say the mods don’t have to make the knife “meaner” - I suppose that term might be overly aggressive to some... If only there was a non-offensive word for tactical... ;)

Used a soldering iron with a small tip and after removing the scales I quickly poked the iron into the plastic. I then went over the scales with fine sandpaper to smooth out the edges a bit. Much more traction and imho it looks better than the smooth/textured mix in the original handle. If you zoom in on the picture of the Spartan handle you can see the texture.

I did notice the texture I have just never heard that word before. Makes perfect sense now, also great job. It looks fantastic.

Great work! Unfortunately, I don’t really have the artisan skills to contribute anything here, hehe. Always a pleasure to see the work of others though.

I like the finish and the flat-topped spine. Looks ready for some trailblazin.’

Kinda weird one - these are my Fiskars scissors.

For places that you can’t take knives...

They come manufactured to take apart, I just made the points more pointy and touched up the edges.

Maybe this thread should be moved to Prac-Tac??
