I'm going to getting a 220V Evenheat here shortly and I would like to hear everyone's recommendation for which controller to go with and why.

If there is an alternate oven you would recommend I'd love to hear that too.

I have the set pro. I have treated cpm-154 and AEB-L. I set it up by watching YouTube videos and reading the manual. It wasn't super easy, but it wasn't hard either. Now both programs are saved, and it takes me a minute to remember how to pull up the programs. I'm sure if I did more blades I would remember quicker, but it's been fine for me so far.

I favor used industrial or lab furnaces like Lindberg or thermolyne or Cress. But I’m pretty sure I’m in the minority here ....

Generally these are muffle furnaces where the elements are imbedded into or behind refractory.

You get them used on eBay or craigslist and you have to look around and be patient but they can be a very very good value

I use a Bentrup TC507. It, and its smaller brother TC505, is usually what is supplied with smaller size industrial kilns over here. I had the TC505 first but upgraded since I wanted access to more segments. It is super easy to program and use.

I like the rampmaster controller. More buttons than the setpro so it is faster to use, but has real buttons unlike the TAP controller. The TAP does have extra features like being able to view the temperature history, or controlling it from a smartphone.

I have the set pro.
I’ve probably heat treated 10 different steels stainless and high carbon.
It takes about 15 secs to set it, super easy.
I’ve heard you can save programs but I haven’t needed to yet.

interesting. Not a lot of love for the TAP. Real buttons more popular.

Can you heat treat stuff like M4 and Cruwear with the set pro or rampmaster?

set pro works just fine for M4 i hahve a set pro on my 18 inch. im lookinig gat upgrading to the new long blade style and i ll go with set pro or TAP
reason that i am thinking about the tap is for pottery that i also can do (having the cone setting already in the controler woudl be handy)
