Recommendation? Evening all, I was hoping you may be able to help me as I’m rather new to all of this.

Can anyone recommend a website or brand of files to buy? I was scrolling through Amazon and there were lots of complaints about their (Amazon bought) files snapping.

If fast material removal is the goal, get yourself the 14" Pferd Chip Breaker. That thing is a beast. Before I bought the grinder, I was a file geek. Pferd makes excellent files. For a more affordable option, check out Simmonds brand files as well. The Chip Breaker has 1-B stamped on the tang and is a coarse pattern, I think the coarsest they make.

I keep getting ads for Corradi files made in Italy. Anyone have any experience?

Vallorbe Swiss files. Axminster tools. The best. Same place for sharpening stones, diamond sheets, etc etc

Kennedy, industrial quality…ie they are Okay. Cromwell Tools. They have LOTS of other tools. Good for drill bits.

Drill Service Ltd. Better for drill bits.

Why in the name of Zeus are you looking for tools on Amazon?!? Want junk, look at the place where junk is sold!

There are so many UK sources for good tools. Workshop Heaven, Classic Hand Tools, MSC Direct UK sells Vallorbe too.

Sign up to Edgematters, UK knife forum. Not affiliated, but I too am in the UK and it’s a good to look local when starting out, see how other locals manage.
