I did some mods to an ALICE canteen pouch, in the below picture you can see my fix for the pouch tilting out while being worn on a belt, I attached some 1" webbing to the ears and up to the top of the belt loop. This makes it ride very well, and so far the straps are out of the way. I added an ALICE first aid pouch to the front and am planning on adding compass or strobe pouches to the sides. The pouch currently holds a USGI canteen, cup and stand, I'll be seeing if a lid fits shortly.

On the back you can see that I extended the HD webbing to the bottom of the pouch and created a high ride belt loop.

I attached the D rings just behind the ears with a fold of 1" webbing and a 1" ITW D ring

The shoulder strap is tan seatbelt webbing with an ITW Nexus 2" to 1" reducer and then some 5/8" web and SR buckles to make it detachable. It will also work as a Baldric for my BK9
