Ever asked Esee to re-coat a stripped blade?

Here's my dilema... I've been modding my Junglas. I slightly shortened the blade in both length and height, which required a slight regrind of the edge, which in turn meant ruining the black DLC coating. Now I kind of want the coating back, since I'm pleased with the mod job...

Has anyone ever tried to get a stripped blade re-coated?

PS: here's the blade...

I don't know if ESEE would help you out or not, but maybe someone could work in a Cerakote or something similar? I'll be digging for the link for you, there was a fella awhile back that did a really nice job on a ZT 0100.

A. I love the mods!

B. I really don't think they will!

Modded ESEE looks good.

Should you so desire, there are other companies/products, which will coat your blade, but IMO it looks great as is.

Further more, you now have the chance to either leave it as is to get an even nicer patina on its on OR you can force a patina - both of which can look great and in the case of forcing your own patina, can be a lot of fun.

How ever, its YOUR blade and you deceide whether or not to get it coated.

I know, that I wouldnt (coat it). The coating will just get worn again and a patina will to some degree protect the steel in any case.

BTW Plenty of threads here in regards to advice on forcing your own patina .....just saying:thumbup::p;):D

I have my doubts they recoat the blade for you but send them an email the worst they can do is say no.

I don't mind a worn coating, they can be kinda sexy... It's the coating that looks like it was attacked by a belt sander that I didn't like ;)

Good stuff, guys. Waiting on a reply from them, but the dang blade is kinda growing on me in it's uncoated glory now... It's almost like it wants a satin finish, or something.

I like where you're heading now. IMO, coatings are not great on a knife blade, its such a high wear item, especially this type of blade.
