Have you ever bought a knife because a single comment on here pushed you over the edge, sold you on needing a knife?

A while back in a thread about grail knives, ArchVV ArchVV said this, in part, about a knife I'd long wanted, the Olamic Rainmaker:

Truth. Rides nicely in the pocket and trumpets blare when it opens. It's glorious.

I'd wanted one for a while, because I love my other Olamic knives and thought it was similar in size and shape to the larger folders I carry (ZT 0454, CKF Milk, customized Benchmade 710). I was put off by the weight, though, as many I'd seen listed were well up over six ounces whereas my happy place for knives, weight-wise, is ~4oz or less.

When a pretty one was available to me to buy, I remembered this comment (and another by Quiet Quiet was a close runner-up) and decided screw it, I had to have one.

It's purdy and I love it, and for bonus points while it's still heavier than the other big folders I carry, it isn't by much--this configuration weighs 5oz even.

Sometimes I buy things because of the aggregate weight of many comments, but in this case I can track my purchase back to ArchVV ArchVV and his trumpets (snapping it open is glorious, incidentally, I concur fully with his evaluation). It's not the first time this has happened, I've had other, similar occasions in the past.

So, have you ever had a single comment you read that you could blame for a purchase?

Yes.
When Sal said he wasn't making a Pattada in K390 after all.
I immediately pulled the trigger on his Pattada in N690 .
I'm glad I did and the steel is much better than I had expected. MUCH better.
Not saying I would turn down a K390 if that ever were to happen.

Very nice...great pics too.

I'm fairly new to the SERIOUS knife game ,but YES I have been swayed...By Nick Shabazz!
I came home from Blade show last week and had both the Koenig Arius and the Olamic's in my brain. Especially the 247.

Watched Nick's review on the 247 and literally minutes later, built one on the Olamic site and submitted it. Maybe it's his voice. Reminds me of a great friend I had years back in New Jersey who was a New Yorker, nice Jewish fellow. Very savvy on business and life in general. I took some advice from him a time or three and never regretted it. Nick's voice and genral tone is very much like my Friends.

That Olamic scale is amazing.

I have bought many knives based on a single comment here. Not sure anymore which comment, but the knives include.... ZT 620, Steel Will Cutjack, Ontario Rat 1, ESEE 6, BM Griptilian, Spyderco GB2 and likely more.

Damned place has cost me a fortune!

Um, yea.. the question is how many times

You and me both.

YOU bought it!! VERY nice score!

It's partly your fault, mister "like seventeen feet of blade", lol.

I've never actually managed to watch much of the youtube knife channels. I was scarred early on by watching some bloviating moron that put me off of the idea altogether. I have some gun guy channels I love, but the knife ones I've tried haven't done it for me.

Damned place has cost me a fortune!

Ain't that the truth! ;)

Oh, I'm very influenced by the pictures posted by owners here.

If not for them I would have never become a ZT whore.

I can't stand Nick Shabazz, we obviously have very different taste in knives and he seems way too concerned with what someone else thinks his knives look like.

I carry cheap SAKs/multi-tools for the every day tasks and prefer larger, more weapon oriented knives. If someone were to see one and faint like a little ninny that would be hilarious to me. I carry ~4" folders as backup/emergency weapons.

Off the top of my head, mistwalkers first post about the spartan harsey tt had me hooked. I bought one, though it took awhile to wear me down.

I don't even remember the first time I saw or who posted the Ben Seward bodyguard but from the moment I laid eyes on it... I knew I had to have it. I impatiently waited until blade but he didn't have one at blade, which actually worked out because I worked with him to make the bodyguard that I specifically needed. I think maybe the first post I saw a bodyguard in was from Joe paranee, I was hooked immediately.
Here she is:

Damn you. This very post may make me buy that Rainmaker. I had no idea that knife existed and had no idea how badly I need one.

I snagged a Bradford Guardian 3 not because of one comment, but dozens. Hell, that tends to be one of the most recommended every day carry fixed blades on this forum. Not without good reason or anything, mines a great example. But a year or so ago, soon after I joined I saw so many people recommend one so I thought I’d see what all the rave was about. It’s a great small fixed blade.

Comment no... but I have bought based on photos here. Being on this forum is very enabling.

Just saw that beauty on Instagram! Congrats and glad I could help enable! Now I'm seriously considering getting another built.

Nope.. I take others opinions with a grain of salt.. Weather good/bad.. I have been in the knife game for 45plus yrs and have an idea what I like and don't like.. Never ask for an opinion on if I should buy X knife or not.. I trust myself!!:D JMO!!;) John

If you mean "pushed over the edge" due to a comment here, maybe yes. If you mean I had no prior intention to buy a knife but a single comment here made me buy it, then most likely no.
