Has anyone ever received a CRK without any grease on the blade and perforated washers? My Small 21 became loud and almost unbearable to open today. I took it apart tonight and it was completely dry, almost like they maybe forgot to put some grease on it? I can’t imagine it would of dried up and be gone by now for only being born in February this year. Now all is good and this sucker is smoother then my Large 21, which I thought would be impossible! I also took the clip off and have been using the leather pocket sheeth, it is very nice to carry this way! I have a polished clip delete coming and a rust lanyard to make it my own on the way! I really dig this Small 21! It is sweeeet! 7F457B6C-4619-4484-9DFB-BBB82FBB91D1.jpeg

Mine came dry, too.
In fact, many other knives from different companies came dry.
Right on. I don’t think any of my other brand knives ever came with grease or oil period. I was just under the assumption all CRK’s came with grease on em already. It could easily be missed on a few though at the mothership no problem I’m sure. At least it’s a very easy problem to fix.

Not completely dry, but no visible grease. I could feel the washers had a film of grease on them. I guess that’s what is meant by use the grease sparingly.o_O

My small 21 (2017 - insingo) was the opposite.
When I got it, it didn't feel right and when I took a look, the washers were floatin'!
Looked like a piece of toast that had been buttered by a 4 year old.
All is good now though and I'm lovin' it.

I haven't gotten one without any grease but first night I have a new CRK, I strip it, clean it, and regreaase it. To me that part of the fun of getting a new knife.

Never had one come dry. It would definitely have had to have been missed or it was just applied sparingly.

I had a small 21 that came with the grease "dried up". It was factory new, never used, from an authorized dealer, but it was the opposite of smooth to open and close. A few minutes of my time fixed the issue. Opening it up was a surprise and I'll never understand how the fluorinated grease got into this state while sitting in the box:

The crk grease is designed to dry up. The carrier fluid evaporates and leaves a ptfe film behind. If you’ve ever transferred your CRK grease supply to a different vessel, open to the air, you will witness this.

This prevents the grease from attracting dust and grit as it does not remain wet.
