I have, oh, 4-5 Leatherman multis I believe. And every one of them arrived crisp and stiff upon opening/use, until broken it. I recently got a 300 and right from first handling it was almost loose. Is this common ? I wonder if the stamping dies for the 300 are worn and the tolerances are a bit slack ? I suppose it will not make much practical difference as I have used a Blast so much that the plier tips are loose enough not to align visually. It was just an instantly noticeable observation with handling my new 300.

I've had, I dunno, 12 or 13 LM tools over the years. Everyone of them was stiff when they first arrived. My new Rebar was ridiculously so.

I dunno if the dies could be going out in the 300 yet. It's still pretty new as far as tools go. My guess is that whoever was operating the press must have not gotten as tight as they like. Maybe a 4:30 on a Friday kind of thing.

LM will take care of it though. Customer sevice, in my experience, is top notch.

No, even my 20+ year old PST I got in the scouts is still reasonably tight. I imagine some do slip out a little loose, but my PST, Wave, and Fuse are all nearly as tight as new.

I just recieved the Signal....like it ALOT but was noticeably not as tight as my wave, crunch, 300 & TTI or Skeeletool's.

My sidekick and wingman both were loose out of the box. Both of my waves, my skeletool, my juice, and my MUT were all nice and tight when I got them.

Years ago, the first Wave I bought at a Target store was very loose at the pivot. This was an original Wave. It eventually got stolen out of my glove compartment.

Depends on how much use it gets. My original Super Tool, after 9 years of "moderate" use, is looser than at first, but still reasonable-- that is, doesn't fly open with the tools out at the slightest encouragement. But I've never seen a heavily used one that didn't shake open butterfly style with all the implements splayed. I know several Super Tool heavy users, and I can flick their Leathermen open much too easily. None of these guys, BTW, care anything about that and continue to use their loose Super Tools with no plans to replace them so long as they continue to function, but they aren't hobbyists, just regular workmen (stage tech, machine shop, lawn care, metal fabrication) who put up with me and my interest in knives and multitools.
