I remember before I got a DVR I use to always channel surf very early in the morning and wander across these knife shows on the shopping at home networks. A lot of the knives looked extremely cheap, some of them looked okay, but I always thought that the sales men pitched them witch the funniest things. One in particular I remember was some type of rubber grip that a manufacturer was using with some cheesey name, and another manufacturer that sharpened with a microbevel that they were calling a "Amazing Dual Edge!".

Oh, and then there was this

"We may need emergency surgery... in the studio."

The ones I have seen mostly seem like cheap junk, but yeah sometimes the over the top pitches are pretty funny. That video is hysterical. Prolly not good karma to laugh at someone's injury but what the hell, the guy was a shyster selling crap!

Solely for the reason of laughing at the insipid designs and obviously crap quality. And even then, only for a few minutes.

And in hopes of a repeat of moments like this...

SMKW, at my buddys house. He orders a ton of knives on the Frost shopping channel, and balks at the price of everything listed on the SMKW show.

Maybe a vascular surgeon should be on hand. Some quote comes to mind,oh ya,"stupid hurts".

I've picked up some really sweet deals on Knives Live (SMKW), including a Kershaw Outcast, a TAC-1 in D2, and an A.G. Russell Folding Hunter in 154CM for $40.00 apiece. Deals like that don't come along very often. But they're worth snapping up when they do. :)

.

That video was hilarious minus the part where the guy may have been seriously injured.

"We may need emergency surgery... in the studio."

Was that a sales pitch? haha

Don't know what you're talking about? :D

When did they start selling knives on TV?:D

Yep. Problem is, I can't stand to listen to Steve, Tony and Jay butcher the English language. And I'm not a big slipjoint fan. So I've developed a technique that works pretty well for me.

I've got a Dish Dual-DVR. I record Knives Live on TV2 while I watch other programming on TV1. Then during the commercial breaks, I switch back to the DVR and fast foward through what I missed of Knives Live since the previous commercial break. If I see something I like (which occurs infrequently), I slow down and check it out. Otherwise, I can run through about 15 minutes of Knives Live programming in about 30-45 seconds without giving myself a headache. By doing that, I've never missed scoring a knife I was after.

I've seen a few mins. of the Ronco type ads. "BUY IN THE NEXT 30 SECS. AND GET 25 FREE, AND A PAID VEGAS VACATION" The only time I see em is channel surfing. I don't want to listen to some guy tryin to sell me a knife I can tie into a knot.! edgy:thumbup:
