For me it was the HB Forge Shawnee. Perfect. Period. Weight, balance, leaverage, everything-perfect. The trail hawk, not even close. I'll have to pick one of those up, they look really nice.

I've found my axe, now searching for my hawk. The bottom one in this picture comes close (forged by a 70 year old guy I met at an antique show, handled by me), I'll find out more when I go on my hunting/camping trip in November. A damascus head would top it off nicely though.

For me it's my custom-ordered larger Ft Turner Iroquois mounted on one of my hand carved hafts (23").

It's as close to perfection as I've found. :)

GRRRR! If only they didn't have those blasted holes in the head I would pickup a pipe hawk from cold steel!

So far I've held the CS Norse, CS trailhawk, and just last night got my latest, the CS Frontier, 2010 model with the long haft..... so far my vote goes for the Frontier... feels so right! And I love the profile for looks and the span of the cutting edge.

I showed my grandmother my hawk with the traction rings carved into the haft...she asked me if they represented my kill count. :D

...She didn't really sound like she was joking.
