Yup. Asked why I didn't tell him I had weapons, I responded that it was not a weapon, and he did not ask. I was sent on my way.

of a gun store, a uniformed police officer noticed the Benchmade 710 I had clipped in my pocket. He asked if I had a permit to carry it.

I didn't bother to point out that it was legal and it wasn't concealed.

I just showed him my concealed weapons permit.

Yup. Got pulled over once, and the officer asked why I carried a knife. I told him it was a tool. He held on to it while he wrote up my ticket, and gave it back to me.

Never , cept by a few freinds in blue who want to play with the toy de jour .

Only once. During Massachusetts deer season several years ago, a state Environmental Police Officer (game warden with special state police powers) checked my hunting license, my Firearms Identification (FID) Card (required by all Massachusetts residents to possess non-large-capacity shotguns, rifles, ammunition and self-defense sprays). He didn't ask about the (now-unloaded) Remington 870 12-gauge slung over my shoulder, probably because they are standard issue for most police departments. He did comment about the 4.5" Cold Steel "Master Hunter" in its Kydex sheath on my belt. He asked if it was a military tactical knife and I told him that it was strictly a hunting knife. He asked to see it, so I unsnapped the sheath, with the blade still in it, from my belt and handed it to him. He removed the knife, examined it, re-sheathed it and returned it to me without a word. He then turned his attention to other hunters in the area

Wow, this is shocking to say the least. In Tennessee, I have NEVER been asked a ? about any knife I have carried. Granted, I havent carried some of the steel I see some of you fellas posting pictures of, but I have carried various Spydercos, Benchmades, Microtechs, Busse's, and Swamp Rats and NEVER been so much as asked a thing about them.

We dont have a CCW permit, we have a handgun permit which IS different. We are not allowed to carry a blade longer than 4 inches without reason. So if you are going out down town and packing a Swamp Rat Mini Mojo or a Busse Battle Mistress, You are definitely going to catch some flack for that. Now if you were carrying these in the woods, you wouldnt be asked anything.

Oddly enough I ask more cops about their firearms and knives than have ever asked me about mine. While sharing one day a State cop was trying to flip open a Sebbie of mine like he did his Kershaws and couldn't figure it out.:) At least he was cool about it though.

I was helping move my pastor's sister (my pastor is a police officer) and he asked if I had a knife he could use to cut a box. I then handed him my spyderco Millie, "now thats a knife" he exclaimed and told his wife "thats what I want for christmas".

Yes, unfortunately in my part of the World you aren't particularly supposed to carry any knife whatsoever.
They were removed and I continue to struggle opening packaging to this day :D:rolleyes:.

Nope. I live in South Dakota. Everybody kind of minds their own business here. I could walk down the street with a sword if I wanted to :D

Couple years back a cop stopped me and decided to search me for some reason, And found my endura, He just played with it the whole time then Finally gave it back and says "Nice Knife" and went on his way. haha.

Not really.
I've been around cops who noticed the pocket clip, but I wasn't being a ninja-wannabe or nothin, so they didn't bug me.
Act like it's a tool, and MOST people will realize it IS one.

I was carrying my Buck 110 and two police officers questioned me about it. "What do you use that for, sir?" to which i replied "Oh, just opening packages, cutting tape and whatnot." he asked to see it so i handed it to him, he said "Oh, it's a Buck." and the other officer said "Hey, that's a good knife!" They handed it back and that was about it. I thought it was kinda funny.

was wearing my Jimmy Lile hunter (fixed blade) on my belt, openly, along with a OLD japanese Parker folder in a Don Hume leather clip sheath one day, while perusing the paper at the coffee shopp, drinking a coffee. The police came by for their coffee break, sat to my right. One noticed my Parker and asked "hey, is that an old Parker?" I looke dup and said "yes", unclipped the sheath and handed it to him. His eyes lit up as he opened it and he exclaimed "**t thats sharp! just like my Grandfathers old pocket knife". He handed i back in the sheath and said, "thanks for the memories". Not a word about the fixed blade.

Another time i was in the area, doing Citizens Watch late at night. I had been following a regular thief for sevral blocks, reporting his actions to the Police. About ten minutes alter a lights out cruiser rolled thru and pulle dme over. "we got a report of a man in a balck jacket shining a falshlight into cars". Yes i responded, I'm with citizens watch and i check all the plates in my area against the latest hotsheet. he looked at my belt and asked "whats that?" (i had a tan large Kabar TDI) I pulled aside my coat and said "its a small belt knife, I forgot to remove it after work before i started patrol tonight." After verifying my id they drove off, in the direction of the real perp.
