I order a leek composite from Kershawguy last week. It should be here Wed or Thur and I can't wait. Since this is my first blem, what should I expect? Has anyone ever had any problems with a blem? I thought I would give them a try and for the price I couldn't resist. I hope this knife can be a EDC. Thanks in advance for your help/comment.

I'm sure if your knife has any problems Dave will be happy to help

I own several blems (acually I have one in my pocket now as I type this) and so far I have never had any issues but minor cosmetic flaws. Generally that is if I can even find it. My main edc is a ZT550blk blem and it locks up solid with no play and came sharp.

A blem should be just that, a blemish. I can't see a large knife manufacturer intentionally selling merchandise that is mechanically flawed, that's asking to get sued hard and lose huge amounts of their customer base.

I had a blem CPM-D2 Leek that had the entire top half of the blade be completely dull and almost not even have a secondary bevel, but the rest was good.
On the other hand a Crown and a Needs Work from Walmart didn't come very sharp either.

It's one of those scratches that you can only see if you tilt it just right.

Since you are buying a blem for EDC, you shouldn't have any worries as blems do not affect function. Most, if not all "blems" are cosmetic nature as any knifemaker wouldn not want ot put a functionally dangerous knife into the User's hand.

The wost blem I've ever seen is with a Rat that got so badly sharpened that the edge is slightly concave instead of straight when viewed in profile. Ugly, but doesn't affect the usefulness of the knife.

I have a Composite Leek blem. No real problems, but the blade is off center and about half a millimeter away from hitting the safety lock near the pommel. I'm considering removing the lock since I never use it. Also got a Kimura VII blem from Kershawguy. The movement seems a bit stiff, but I'm not sure if it's because of a problem with the knife or because I'm not used to manipulating something so heavy.

An off crnter blade is more than a blemish...

It doesn't affect any part of the use of the blade unless it is rubbing against the liner. I've had many knives I've bought that weren't blemishes come without centered blades.

So we agree?

No.. not unless it affects your use of the knife, or the blade is rubbing against the liner. As I said, I've bought many knives that were not blemished that were not centered. I have no issue with them because they're not rubbing the liner.

Just got two blems from dave, a 350sw and a 561. The 350 is perfect except for a 1.0mm scrath on the blade. The 561 is perfect ecept that the tip looks like someone dropped it on a hard floor or such :( Nicks and bent edge..

I got a blem skyline from Dave, it has a very small ding in the side of the blade and it wasn't sharpened right, but other then that its great

I have a leek blem from kershawguy.
The tip was bent, so I ground it off and re shaped it.
Other than that, no problem.
If you do have an issue, he will take it back.

I hope my incoming 200 is just that.

Well, we'll just have to agree to disagree. Just because you have a habit of buying off center knives doesn't mean that it's not an issue. I really doubt any of them were intended or designed to be off center.

And to my original point about centering being a bigger deal than blems, I still hold to that... If presented with a choice between two knives, one that is off and won't center and one with a blem like that pic above I am taking the blem every time... which would you choose?
