Ever have a knife that is just the knife?

Have you ever had a knife that you don't really want to be your edc, but it just seems to be the knife? As much as I want a 110 to be my edc, it was a little big for some occassions. I really like my 112 Ranger, it almost has it all in the size and looks department, only problem is in my work pants, (business casual Kakhis), I've had 2 close calls in losing it in two weeks. Seems to be just small and heavy enough where If I lean back in a chair the right way, it slides out of my pocket. I've left it laying in a chair twice and luckily found it.
So I'm back to my 1988 model Bucklite. My first real pocket knife was a Bucklite that I carried for 17 years until it was stolen. This is not the exact version of my first Bucklite, but it is pretty close. I found it a month or so back at a Flea Market. The blade looks to have been broken at some point and re-profiled.
The Bucklite lacks the brass and wood and styling of the 110 and 112 but it has fingergrooves which I kind of like. This one has the lanyard hole, which my first bucklite didn't have. I've taken a one hole stainless steel pocket clip off of a Frost knife and a stainless steel screw that is slightly smaller in diameter and taped the threads to make the clip fit the lanyard hole without damaging the knife for an experiment. For me this makes this pretty much the perfect knife. This model of Bucklite sits up a little, but curves right into the corner of a pants pocket for a nice fit.
I think I will send it to buck for a reblade and make the pocket clip permanent when I come up with a rivet or something that matches the others so that it looks nicer than the stainless steel screw.

Cabela's has pants with a great velcroed knife pocket that fits the 110 and 112.

Carry is so nice that you don't even know they're there.

Shousss.... dont tell any body but many times i find a 112 bucklite in my pocket when i am outside puttering around..

I attach 3-hole pocket clips to my Bucklites and Selectors using a #2X56TPI Helicoil kit. That way I stainless steel female threads in the plastic handle. There is no propensity for the threads to strip out or for the clip to rotate. I prefer a tip down carry, but tip up should work. The screws have a #6 TORX recess and are cut to length from a 1/2" size.
