Ever Hear of a Garcia "Jaques"?

I picked up an interesting knife in a pawnshop the other day. It's marked on one side, at the base of the blade, "Jaques - Stainless" and "Brazil" and also has a letter J in an oval. In the same location on the other side it's marked "Garcia". The spearpoint blade is about 6 1/2 inches long, with a false edge and sawteeth on the back. The sheath is also marked "Brazil" on the back and resembles the Airforce survival knife sheath with a pocket for a stone. I assume this knife was imported by Garcia back when they were trying to be one of those all things to all sportsmen companies. Does anyone have any info on Jaques or Garcia knives in general?

It could have been made over here but I have absolutely no clue of who could have made it. Of the Brazilian makers I know, only one could have made such knives (Paz & Pazzini) but it´s just speculation.
I have already seen at least one knife like the one you have, offered months ago at Northwest Knives catalog. never seen a similar here in Brazil.

Designed by Pete Dickey and Ken Warner (yes, the well known editor of Knives) during the Vietnam War. The Garcia Survival knife was first produced by Hackman of Finland (about 1,000 copies) and then manufactured in Brazil. The Hackman version is very collectable and slightly heavier in construction. The sheath and sharpening stone on both versions is very interesting.

P.s. according to Ken even Bill Moran has had some involvement with this knife (supposedly he purchased about 100 of these knives, edged and sheathed them, and sold them to customers that couldn't wait 3 years for an original Bill Moran Knife).

References:
There is a nice picture of the knife in Silvey "Knives of the United States Military in Vietnam".

Also, check out Ken Warner's "The Practical Book of Knives", chapter 7.
Enjoy.

You bet it's a great place. Thanks for all the info, especially to not2sharp. Maybe you should call yourself way2sharp! BTW, I misspelled the name of the maker in my original post. It's "Jacques". Sure didn't seem to hold up you sharpies. Thanks again.
