Has anyone ever heard of a knife company called "Hattori" I have a Hattori bowie, like the Sog Bowie, it is a beatiful finished knife but I was interested in how it would preform in the field. Maybe it would be better just on display, I think I paid £150 thats about $230, I am sure I paid too much for it. Nothing much just a general view of this knife.

Hunting? Don't be a wise guy, what do you hunt with a knife?

Name it!

the company was founded 1972 in japan IIRC... dont know, i speak out of my mind.. however, the use mostly A6 for smaller and A8 (6AUS and 8AUS) for their bigger knives so i guess yours is the 8AUS. the knives are good quality and not just cheap junk... i do research, if i find out more i'll post it

The Hattori Fighters are distributed in the U.S. by Gutmann Cutlery under their Junglee trademark. Whether the same is true in the U.K., I can't say. These are well made fighters that come in two sizes with excellent fit, finish and materials. As you point, out they are also expensive. I consider them the most attractive fighters in the production knife industry but that's just a personal observation. Glad you enjoy yours. Take care.

Actually the Hatori fighter is a copy of the Katz Alley Kat Fighter which was being sold in this country well before the Hatori Fighter. Actually, they appear identical except for the grip material. They are probably the same knife made in the same place and sold under different names. This is only a guess of course. They are both extremely fast handling knives. Excellent design.

Wasn't that an old John Wayne and Red Buttons movie?

Fred is on the money. Hattoris are currently made in Seki City Japan. The Fighter models certainly have lots of eye appeal! Beautiful recurve, blood groove, full guard, partial wood handles, makes one want to say "wowwwww...". The larger Fighter, true to their ad quote is indeed one of the best balanced large fighters I' ve ever handled.

Strider, ya never know! He might have, it was a rock and rollin movie.

But I have held one of the Hattori knives and the way the handle is made makes the knife handle and feel very quick in the hand, very light feeling knife, good grip, and the blade looked to be a good cutter as well.
