CURIOUS IF ANY OF YOU GUYS HAVE OR KNOW OF MAKING A BELT GRINDER, I HAVE SEEN QUITE ALOT OF INFO ABOUT MAKING THEM AND WAS WONDERING ABOUT ALL YOU KNIFE JUNKIES OUT THERE, YOU GUYS WOULD KNOW IF ANYONE WOULD!!

I've made a half dozen of them. Most didn't work out but the next one would get better. If you do a search, you will find a lot of threads about the topic.

yup...I built 3 so far...all works great.....when you have figured out how they should work it is not all that difficult.

In the first pic there is my old and my new....the one in front was built this summer and has variable speed drive....man it works likea charm....the contactwheel is attached to the tool-arm that is real quick to shift...makes it very fast to change between all my different wheel...

built this one during the past week.....horizontal grinder....it is made so I can use the same tool-arms from the other machine...this one is a two-speed motor.

looks pretty simple, however, where can a person get the contact wheels and motor? did the motors come with the drive pulley attached
or did that have to be adapted? thanks for the responses and pictures!!

Sweany: Yup..that works really well....!....the first grinder I buildt was from those pics...the new ones are built with the help from Rob Frink...coolest guy and hell of a machinebuilder...he was kind enough to answer alot of questions and even showed me closeup pics of his grinders
