Ever not get the knife you want and end up with a "consolation" knife?

I was bidding on a CRKT S-2 medium very recently. It's an old Ti framelock with an ATS blade. I love Ti Framelocks, something about them although I have never bought or owned one that I actually wanted to keep. Still though, I love trying out new to me Ti-Framelocks. To date I have owned or handled a Sage 2, Pinnacle 750, Sebenza small and large. Well anyway, I lost the ebay bid. The S2 sold for some crazy price like what it sold for back when it was first produced. I was expecting it to be one price and ended up being another price.

Anyway, being bummed I almost pulled the trigger on a different knife for no reason other than I lost the bid on the knife that I wanted. Has that ever happened to you and did you go through with the consolation knife purchase?
