This seems to happen to me from time to time. It happened with My buck x-tract and now my Timberline Kelly Worden Large Tactical. The stud gets stuck on the top of my jeans pocket, opens up a lil without me knowing and then as i push it in it cut's my pocket. On a brighter note, i can sew pockets up now lol. The only spot on my clothes my knife has come in contact with is inside my right pocket, only got me once, and it was just the tip of the x-tract, nothing serious. Got my finger with the grippy when it opened up the same way, except it's tip up so i got the best of that one...

Yep, my Millie has gotten my pockets a couple of times

While I was in the Army, I had a BM Leopard that I wore clipped to my belt. The detent wasn't so hard and I ended up cutting my coat a few times.

I have done it a few times, with tip up carry.Once was with my Al Mar SERE2000,almost cut the tip of Mr. Happy off.I removed the pocket clip and it now rides in a sheath, when I pack it.I prefer tip down carry, especially with smoother opening linerlocks.

I have a linerlock, and old Gerber with an ATS34 blade. It is an open design, and I made the mistake of putting keys in the same pocket. A key got tangled in the knife and pushed the blade open.
It was uncomfortable, but I learned to avoid keys in the same pocket with an open linerlock.

izula in the pocket....missed the sheath and nicked my leg....not a fun experience, but nobody died so I guess we're all happy

knock-on-wood that has never happened to me.

I stabbed the tip of my thumb once, reaching into my back pocket for my comb. I'd clipped a small Spyderco/Jess Horn collaboration knife inside the pocket (tip up), and there was just a tiny bit of up/down play with the blade in the closed position. Just enough that the very pointy tip of the blade could occasionally be exposed outside of the handle. I reached into my pocket and felt just a little 'resistance' to my thumb so, like a dummy, I kept pushing in, digging for the comb. Never felt any pain, and when I took my thumb out of my pocket, I saw that I'd driven the blade tip about 1/8" straight into my thumb. Bled like a stuck pig.

A friend of mine is paraplegic, in a wheel chair. He used to carry a clipped folder in his right front pocket. The knife had two things working against it, a thumb stud that was prone to snagging on his pocket AND the same (as above) loose up/down play with the blade closed. Because he has no feeling in his legs, he didn't notice when the knife stabbed his upper leg. Had no idea anything was wrong until he glanced down and saw the (still expanding) blood stain on his jeans.

Every knife I pick up now gets immediately checked for play/slop with the blade closed, for tightness of the closing detent, and also for exposed tips with the blade closed, for the reasons above.

One day in the warehouse at work I was cutting open 4x4 boxes full of old ski boots with my Fox Big Trendy I got while in Italy. Since I was in a hurry inspecting the boots and moving the boxes with the forklift I got a little absent minded and put the knife back in my pocket without closing it. I then jumped into the seat of the forklift and the blade promptly stabbed through my jeans and almost into my arm. I felt like a real dumbass. I had never done anything so stupid with a knife before. FYI, it's allways wise to close your folders BEFORE putting them back in your pocket!

My Kershaw Nerve opened with the thumb plate and poked a hole in my pocket, but not my jeans fortunately.

CRKT Apache in ATS 34 went right through my jeans as I was returning it to the pocket. Too bad, good little knife but I never EDCed it again.

Yep, tip up and down. That's why I don't like liner locks/frame locks unless it's speed safe. Detents are not strong enough for running in many cases. Sheath or spring for me.
