Now for my second attempt at pic sharing is a saw I picked up this winter. I have never seen a Norlund Guide Saw. I knew that they made axes. Not too bad a design. The blade flips over the top bar and stores the sharp end and the handle folds down. The second saw is one I made 15 years ago and is in my camp box. The saw was made out of ash and takes down and placed in calico cloth bag. The saws are sitting on a buffalo hide I did 25 years ago. I pulled it out and the bugs ate all the hair off. Big chunk of hide. I suppose I could made a bunch of primitive sheaths with it. Saves the work of dehairing the hide.

Nice work on that wooden saw---very attractive in addition to being functional! Lots of careful attention to detail. I really enjoy using a nicely handcrafted tool like that.

Thank you. Sets up nice and tight, minimal binding, has held together for a long time. Could maybe have used paracord for a twistie but what is being used is fine. Will work better without the paracord for a primitive camp.

Yes, paracord is useful but it can ruin the old-time feel of a tool. I have a classic hawk that I actually use in the yard a fair amount. I wrapped the grip area with paracord and it feels better when using---but looks odd. I need to get some leather strips and do it properly.

I like the way you carved the nicely curved grooves that retain the string. A lazy bastid like me would have used ugly notches!

What am I doing wrong on these pics? Skewed to the side etc. Everytime I look at them they seem to change position?

Put the code for the picture up against the left side of the page, and put a space above and below the code. Like this:

<image code>

Then continue writing below it. That way the pic stays to the far left, and your writing stays where it should. For multiple pics:

<pic 1>

<pic 2>

<pic 3>

and then more writing.

Thank you I will try and copy this. Regards
