Crap. It scuffs the blade and will not restore a badly damaged edge. It is only good for touch ups and even does that badly. Look into the DMT Aligner it does a good job and is reasonably priced. Many others will recommend the Spyderco Sharpmaker. It is great but I never had much luck with it. Hope this helps.

+1 to the aligner its one of the best.

The crkt is not very good and that's being nice! Get a dmt spyderco or lansiy system instead

 +3

Get the three stone set from Course to Extra fine
Add the extra Course if you will be rebeveling (like Queen D2)

Excellent jig, very easy to use with great results.

The Slide Sharp is a good example of something that is better in theory than in actual use. I have tried a friend's twice, the latest being yesterday afternoon on an Opinel #7 that I use for opening boxes. It took a semi-sharp used edge and rolled the remainder off until it was just a dull rounded edge with a random scratch pattern. I got home and got out the Sharpmaker, gave it about 20 strokes to a side followed by stroping on a leather belt and it was back to hair popping sharp. I do not consider myself a sharpening expert, but for my uses I have found the following process to work for me about 90% of the time:
1) On new unsharpened blades, or blades that need reprofiling, a Lansky system.
2) For general edge maintenance/touch ups, the Spyderco Sharpmaker.
3) Finish with stropping on a leather belt to pull out rolled edge.
