We are getting ready for our first production run of the Everest Katana. It will be very similar to prototypes 1, 2, and 3 with the exception of handle, tsuba and buttcap which will be as shown -- I hope!
You know the specs.

I am very encouraged by the testing of Jim March, Broken Arrow and Ray C. All have rated the Everest Katana as "tough, strong, good hard edge, worth making a production item" and this is what I wanted to see. I think this sword will uphold the HI tradition but it will not be a prybar that cuts -- it is a sword and if you want to cut down oak trees and chop them into kindling, don't use the katana -- get an Ang Khola.

So, it is sign up time. The price for the Everest Katana will be $245. We are going with a wood handle. Without a handle, tang only, you do your own as you like -- $195. As usual, this is a first come, first served deal with two lists -- those who prepay and COD shipments.

Call, email or sign up here.

Comments and suggestions always welcome. And we can do some special orders but keep overall length under 38 inches and remember special orders take awhile.

Hmmm ... I have lots of knives, but not one real sword ... and I'm clueless on what to do with a sword in any social situation, but ...

Bill, you have e-mail.

Now should we come up with a "could have happened" tale of how a Gurkha in Burma fought a Japanese officer steel-to-steel, and was so fascinated by his late enemy's unusual weapon and technique that he started a whole new Nepali school of edged weapon-craft?
