Uncle Bill, The katana arrived yesterday and while not a perfect copy of a japanese style sword, I believe it to be a very well made katana in it's own right. I can find nothing wrong with this sword that could not be solved with Kumar learning patience, which will come with age.In time I believe he will be one of the best if not the best kamis H.I.'s got.The sarkis did an excellent job on the scabbard and for my use it will work fine. I have not had a chance to try it out yet, I'll update the post after I give it a try. Thanks, Lamar

Im sitting here refreshing the screen waiting to see who gets uncles specials, and i see KATANA.My heart skips a beat as i race to bid on it first, but oops its not a specials its a review.hehe

Thanks for the review tho, keep us posted

Uncle Bill and everyone, I finally got a chance to try out the katana and here are the results. Performance test I started out with some 2-3inch diameter pine trees, the first one took several strikes, but after I got a feel for the sword it was only taking one good solid hit to take the trees down. I then whacked up several 2 by 4's with no problem, then I tried out the tip by thrusting it through a 1/2 inch sheet of plywood with no difficulty.I had some large pieces of cardboard that I used to try out the edge, made about 15 clean cuts,no tears. In conclusion I can find no reason why this sword would not perform the tasks for which it was designed as the sword experienced no damage as a result of the tests. Appearance The katana I received was a blem, the major fault I could find is that the habaki was totally absent and I'm sure the hardness is not yet perfect, but so far I cannot seem to find how this affects performance. I especially like the finger grooves on the handle which give you a positive grip on the sword. The engraving work on the tsuba and buttcap is excellent. Overall I would think anyone would be pleased to add this katana to their collection. This sword whie not a perfect duplicate of a Japanese sword is a very well made, durable, fully functional katana. Lamar

Uncle Bill,

If you keep getting reviews like this you may find yourself permanently unable to have any stock on these things. I _wasn't_ even interested in one myself but they are sounding better all the time.

Those katanas that are in the air are already sold and more people are waiting. We are behind on everything. Evidently quality does count with quite a few folks.

And many thanks for the update, Lamar. You are big and strong and still plenty young to give the katana a real workout so if you say it is okay I know it will work for just about everybody -- especially somebody like me!!!!!
