Wow! What a blade! What a scabbard!!
Very unique handle!!

I'll post more later and try to get some pics in a day or two, but for now, I have a couple questions:

How in the heck are those 2 "hoops" on the back of the scabbard used? I realize that it probably has something to do with carrying on a person's back, but how? and what goes through the hoops? I don't have a clue.

Also, how would I tighten up the buttcap just a little? I noticed a slight rattle when I thumped the handle...no big deal, it's not in danger of coming off, just a tad loose.

Thanks.......more later

The EKK is a sight to behold. Is there anything Bura can't do? He is amazing. Large Khuk's, small Khuk's, choppers, fighters, swords, all done exceptionally well.

Nepal has a true national treasure in this man. HI is lucky to have him.

What was the name of that man you Katana guys like to hack up?

Harry,
Do you make your own Tatami man? If so how do you do it?

I'll get pics up tomorrow of the EKK. The handle is silver/horn/silver/horn/silver, with yin-yang inlays...8 of them. A little "busy" maybe but I like it and it's bound to be unique.

Harry----what is the theory behind the silver hoops on the scabbard?

The loops on the back of the scabard are designed for a horizontal carry. You can run a belt thru them or you can tie some leather thongs to them and then tie the thongs to your belt or make a belt to loop across your shoulder and away you go -- but I seriously doubt that many will actually carry the kothimoda katana a lot.

I found a small rattle near the buttcap of my kothimoda katana too, but I fixed it with some wood/brass fast-dry adhesive. Now it works like a charm, no rattles, no clicks, no nothing.

I had the same question re: the loops as well. I think I will stick w/ Uncle's 2nd suggestion.. tie some leather thongs into it, then to belt.

I also think that I wouldn't be carrying the sheath around too much either... it's way too ornate for a 'carry around'weapon, and the draw is a little tight for a katana.

But if you take the katana out and carry by itself.. it's one of the best swords around, hands down.

I used a toothpick with just a tiny bit of epoxy and poked it barely under the edge of the buttcap. Worked like a champ.

Just for fun I think I'll see what modes of carry I can come up with using the hoops...

Sorry for the late reply, but Uncle Bill's suggestion using black leather thongs would be the way to go. I'd attach it to a good tooled belt and then cover that with a good cumerbund/sash. If wearing over a coat, I'd make one in black similar to a Sam Browne belt would be another option to consider.
