I get very bored in class so I make lists of all the things in the class room that would be useful in a survival situation. For example today
1. Trash bag out of can, the janitors leave extras under the one in the can
2. The electrical cords off computer/overhead projector could be striped
then you would have a good amount of copper snare wire.
3. Strings off the blinds
4. Blinds are made of a canvas material, could be made into what ever
5. Magnifying glass off the overhead projector, fire
6. Mirror off overhead projector, signaling
7. Material off the chairs, cut off and made into what ever
8. Pencil shavings from pencil sharpener, fire starter
9. Wood off desks, fire

So, what everyday items are around your workplace, school, or where ever you spend your day that could be useful in a survival situation?

I work out of the house, so pretty much everything I'd need, I have here.

If you are in school when whatever happens happens, you will need to know exactly where to go to get what you need anywhere in the school and it looks like you have a fairly good grasp on what's available in your present location.

Do you carry fire with you? I'm assuming that they don't allow any kind of knife on your person, so where would you have to go to find a sharp edged tool? Are there fire axes or woodworking/metal working tools anywhere on the premises? Food in the cafeteria? Vending machines? Containers to hold water? Water sources? You carry a bookbag or pack to stuff needed items into?

We are allowed to carry pocket knives but not fixed blades. So my edc is a Lone Wolf T2 cocobolo, gerber 600, surefire E2D, and survival kit that I carry on my belt in a Maxpediton H2 waist pack. Also in my backpack I have a 2 quart hydration system, space blanket, spyderco native, mini mag with LED conversion, power bars, bandana, First Aid Kit, cell phone, and a bunch of other stuff I cant think of right now. But I think I covered most of it.
I do know were most of the vending machines are, reeses addiction, water is not much of a problem, we have several on campus restruants and food courts. We have a wood shop. And good agriculture program, I will be eating some of those ribbon winning cattle with out a problem. Grain fed too, mmmm.

lets see here , i work at dominoes right now and pest control....hmmm. the restaraunt has a natural gas line , i could always light that sucker and use it as a source of warmth , cooking , signal fire or attention getter what the hell. plenty of food in there too i might add.pest conrol has a bunch of power tools im sure i could find a use for but actually with all kidding aside i have plenty of stuff in my pack im usually toting around with me and its contents have come in handy a few times [especially the head lamp , bigGER knife and gloves].

In my school in singapore the science labs are mostly open but need teachers permission to use the labs. A science labs can find lots of interesting things for all kinds of uses by using the chemicals but you must know how to use it. The beakers can also be use to store waters. There is also a design and technology lab (D&T) where there are saws, hammers, tools to make shelter etc, etc. If the tables are made of wood it can be burn for fuel and textbooks and homeworks make very nice tinder and fuel. Cotton from females' pads also make good tinder. Now we will have a good execuse for not having our homework: We use it for fuel...
