Everyday Boots Recommendation

I am looking for boots for everyday wear at work. I have to wear them with khaki pants so I would prefer brown in color and something that would not stick out to bad since I do have to wear them to meetings. I do not have to have steel toed boots. I am on my feet a minimum of eight hours a day either standing or walking on hard surfaces. I walk a minimum of six miles per day while at work. The boots must be waterproof because when I do go outside it is always raining or muddy. I have worn out Vasque, Danner, Ecco, Wolverine and Merrell in the past three years. I am not really worried about cost, but more comfort as the bottoms of my feet have been sore for the past couple months. Please let me know what you would recommend? Thank you!!

Red Wing boots are great, here are some to check out:

Also, right now my favorite are Harley-Davidson Ranger boots... not sure if the meet your criteria, but they are some of the most comfortable boots I've ever worn--and I mostly walk in them, everywhere.

Good luck man--I'm always on the look-out for cool but comfortable boots.

I have worn Redwings for the last 15 years and I will nevewr buy another boot period. NO complaints at all.

Correction of my fav's--Harley-Davidson Ranger 2 is the official name of the boots.

I purchased some Keen boots recently - have worn Ariats, Vasque, Merrils and these are far and away the most comfortable boots I have owned. I have no idea how they are going to hold up - they seem to be very well made and I am hoping that I will get some life out of them. I concur with Redwings - I wore them in a warehouse for 4 years. Got them resoled once after two years and they kept going. Finally retired them as they were falling apart. There was a breakin period with the Redwings - no breakin with the Keens - they felt great from the minute I put them on.

Have you try Timberlands, they've serve me well for over 15 years and are wonderful!!

Just my $ 0.02

The best, most comfortable boots in the world, bar none............ Blundstones from Australia!! I own 5 different pairs for work and play. They feel like slippers, and have some style as well. You will not be sorry!!

What part of the boots are you wearing out? If it's just the soles, you have them most boots re-soled and you get to keep wearing boots you've already broken in.

I have mostly been wearing out the soles, however the Merrell and the Vasque uppers wore out. To have the Danners re-soled would cost about what I paid for them; I got a good deal. I will never buy another pair of Wolverines the soles on the first pair separated and I sent them back; the second pair is not much better and already showing signs of separation. The ECCO have been a very good pair of boots, they just don't have any support anymore they squeak and cannot be re-soled. I have thought about trying some Lowa, Asolo, or Meindl this go around. I am going to take a look at the Red Wings. Whichever is my next pair I have got to get them in the next couple weeks. Thanks!

I have tried alot of different hiking boots....but I keep coming back to merrell.

Absolutely love my Chippewas.... Look great, comfy, USA made, and if need be, they work great in a dead sprint(found out last week, hahaha)

If you're buying boots that can't be re-soled you're wasting your money. The "tennis-shoe" comfort/lightweight styles popular with a lot of folks these days just don't have the suppot to last. They're made to be disposable.

Your only complaint about the Danners is the cost of rebuilding? And you've spent how much on junk boots?

I wear only Danners. I have a pair back at the factory for refurbishment right now. That pair has been through 2 overseas deployments and was worn every other day for 3-4 years. I easily put 6 miles a day in them. But there's now way I'd consider them to be business wear. They're good support, waterproof, and last. That's value to me.

In almost 40 years of backpacking, hiking, Active Duty, and whatever else the only other boot I ever found anywhere near as good were some Lowa's I picked up when volksmarching in Germany back in the 80's. I've tried everything from handmade Russell's on down. Break them in, have them rebuilt, rotate them at least every other day (to give the boot time to dry), and replace the insoles with good quality ones every 6 months. (Once a year wehn you don't wear them every day).

Quit trying to find a cheap, light weight, shoe when you need a boot. Spend the money (get two pair) and take care of them. They'll take care of your feet.

I wear boots all day everday sive I work all the time and for comfort timberland pro and georgia comfort cores can't be beat, but durability red wings win hands down, I have found the perfect solution though i got some custm insoles for the redwings now i have he best of both worlds.

I agree with Aias on the Redwings. I own several pair and they really make a tough boot. My local store always has several models on sale. I purchased a pair of Pecos ropers awhile back and I wear them a lot.
