I've been looking at the Leatherman e307x. (Even thinking about the c305)

I haven't seen it in person. (Hoping to find one this weekend).

My requirements are pretty simple.
It's got to be comfortable to carry in a pants pocket.
It's got to have a phillips head screwdriver.
It's got to have a flat head screwdriver.

I'd like to stay with a "traditional" (used loosely) knife, but I'd honestly wouldn't mind a good multitool, but I've haven't found one that fits in a pocket. (I may not have looked hard enough either)

Has anyone seen something else that would fit the bill?

Some more things.
Those models are the Combo blades, half serrated. I've carried a plain knife for years. I've never really had a serrated blade. What's your thoughts on the Combo, or just get a plain blade. (My current EDC is a Camillus 5 blade boyscout knife)

I'm an IT guy, so this will be mostly regulated to the EDC tasks of cutting cardboard, packing straps, plastic. But I camp quite a bit, and usually end up using it for food prep.

I'm considering giving this knife to my groomsmen in my upcoming wedding. None of these guys are "Knife Guys". (This is where the c305 might come in) Most of them work in the same field I do, minus the camping. So I am concerned that the knife has to fit in the pocket comfortably.

BTW, anyone ever had anything engraved/Etched onto the blade?
I've checked with two places that do Laser Engraving. One is more expensive than the other place. But the cheaper place is asking for an extra knife to test the setup on. (Still cheaper with extra knife). Any thoughts?

Have you looked at Swiss Army Knives? The can opener tip can accomodate most phillips head screws although it is not a true phillips. There are also some knives like the Spartan Lite which has an inline phillips driver and the Tinker which has a phillips in a T-handle configuration.

swiss-knife.com and swissknifeshop.com will engrave a Swiss Army Knife. I got 2 engraved Victorinox Spartans for my co-workers from swiss-knife.com last Christmas.

I would suggest either a Victorinox knife or a smaller Leatherman multi-tool (Juice line of tools). Even folks that have never carried a knife are familiar with a SAK, so no need for long winded explanations there. As far as the Juice line goes, I currently rotate two models (S2 and KF4) in my EDC. I work as a low voltage electronics technician, so I reach for something to cut/strip wire and cable, cut tie wraps, turn screws, tighten small connectors, crimp connectors, etc. all day long. I always carry a full sized multi-tool on my belt rather than sport a 50lb tool belt, but lately I've been using a Juice more just to test it out on the job and put it through its paces. I've got to admit that they have actually stood up to everything I've tried with them so far. I don't feel they're a replacement for a full sized multi of course, but they do carry easy in the pocket, pack a good variety of useful tools, and depending on your blade requirements can do a good bit of cutting chores and may negate the need for an additional knife.

Thanks.

I made a trip to Kittery Trading post over the weekend and Held a e307x in my hand. I was extremely impressed with the knife, but it's just too large (wide) to comforable put in my pocket. And I'm a big guy, and already carry a knife every day. I might personally Opt for a c305, which is dramticatly narrower, and very comfortable.

I went with a Juice C2. It's the smaller knife in the Juice line, but it contains all the tools I was looking for, in the position that I like.

Plus I found a retailer that had them very decently priced that would do engravings. I also am aware that Leatherman itself actually does the engravings on they're Multitools, so i don't have to worry too much about the quailty of the engraving.

I don't know why I've been avoiding the Victorinox knives. I used to carry one quite a bit when I went camping every month. It could be the new translucent handle just doesn't appeal to me, but I not even sure that's it.

Thanks for all the advice. This helped me greatly

I hope you enjoy your Juice. Give it a good workout and if you get time after a few months, write a review for everybody!
