So, thanks to my wife and mother in law and karma, I will be leaving the comforts of home in Pennsylvania, to drive 10 hours to south carolina for vacation. Just in time for hurricane irene to destroy everything. So, now is a good a time as any to make sure my "survival" kit is updated. So here is the blade im taking with some accessories, along with a bk11 edc, just in case the fit hits the shan. My wife has already said "what the hell are you packing that for?". well then she can find her own camp when everything is wiped out.

My modded LE KABAR BK10 Crewman, in a 1st gen Esee 5 sheath.

There is still some room in the tin and in the pouch. anything else i should bring to make the kit complete? just threw this sucker together tonight. Lots of fishing products, even though i suck at fishing with a pole and beer and a boat, but ya never know.

You're gonna need more than that PSK, I'd suggest a FEMA trailer cause that's where you're going to be residing for the next 2 weeks.... remember pliers!~

hmm, pliers. maybe a leatherman would be a good addition. I do have a spare set somewhere, good call

You are in luck, Irene is supposed to breeze right by SC. Where in SC are you headed? Myrtle Beach?

yeh. Im glad, but im still taking it and you cant make me leave it home slap!

btw slap since your here, what are the carry laws like down there? is a samurai sword ok to go into walmart with? or is a toothpick a concealed deadly weapon and will get me 10 years in jail? i hate different state laws

so by the advice of Ark, i just traded in my truck for one of these for the trip....

No, it's a few hours from here. It's probably the most vacationed spot in SC though, which is why I asked. We went there this year for vacation. I'm about 25 minutes inland from Charleston.

I missed this post before.

Laws vary by municipality. Columbia, North Charleston, and Charleston all have less than 3" knife laws. Everywhere else is good though .Guns are okay in the glovebox or center console, as long as there is a factory latch.

Give me a shout if you find yourself on highway 40 headed through Johnston County NC on the way down. I'll hook you up with some BBQ and some wood to chop on to get a break from the car.

bbq and a fire are all i need

Survival kit ideas: Sewing needle with an eye big enough for the fishing line. Water container like a heavy duty ziploc, condom etc. Some type of water purification, bleach, iodine etc or you can pasteurize with heat. Small tampon like OB brand, can be used as sterile wound dressing, fire tinder. Duck tape. Wrap tin with paracord.

Woodswalker, thanks for the ideas. I was at a loss of how to fill out some needs in just the sheath. Ill be taking my pack too which has all sorts of goodies (canteen, cord, collapsible spare water bottle, tablets, first aid kit etc) but ya never know if I need to leave it behind and only take a knife.

Flexx, those green ones are going on the 10, gonna be sick

...What the hell is with you guys coming to SC here lately to vacation? I think I saw where DerekH had done the same thing. I thought SC wasn't even on the map anymore. It's a great place though. Myrtle is a real hot spot. Watch your eyes, buddy. Girls everywhere. Get caught looking and Irene will be the least of your worries. :) On a second note, I'm not all too familiar on knife laws in SC. Gun laws, on the other hand, pretty familiar with. If you're bringing a pistol, just make sure it's in the center console or glovebox. Doesn't have to be locked. The gun can be cocked, locked, and ready to go.

On the knives. Awesome BK10. Wish I had one. I need to get off my *** and get started on a PSK/Survival knife setup.
