I just wondered, been trying to sell mine for a week now. No buyers yet, I'm practically ripping myself off!! I mean for $85??

That is a good buy. Maybe everyone likes them too much. Maybe everybody that wants one has one. I think it has been a great seller for Benchmade.

Actually, I almost wish I hadn't returned mine. I did so with great expextations of the Ares. I didn't like the recurve or the false edge, so I decided to wait for the Ares instead. The 710 is a great design. It really is. It's good-lookin', but not TOO pretty. It's tough. It's also the first knife made with the Axis Lock (although the 720 was right on its heels). That is enough to make it stand out I think. As it stands, I can't wait for the next Axis Lock. In fact, I'm getting an idea! Look for my next thread!

Sorry, buddy, but the 730 seems to be the new flavor for G-10 Axis locks. I prefer the aluminium handled 720.

bcurran, I can't speak for anyone else but, I am not a fan of the 710. It doesn't fit my hand well. There are a lot of "hot spots". I like the balde shape though. Maybe a hair more recurve to it.

If you can't dazzle them with your brilliance,
baffle them with your BS.

I' ve handled the 710 frequently. It is one of the few folders that has a larger blade length to handle ratio. That is a plus in some designs. But in the case of the 710, its overall handle length and feel just don' t cut it. The Pardue Axis is a better choice except for its earlier models with the smooth handle finish.

The 710 is a great knife, being the first folder with an axis lock. But take away the axis (exchange it for a liner-lock) and what do you have? Probably a good/decent knife, but nothing that really makes it stand out. With the impending release of the 730, a knife with an axis lock, and a design patterned after a very popular line of custom knives, I think those thinking about an axis lock are favoring the Elishewitz design over the more plain, yet still nice McHenry/William design.

I personally like the 710 design but never bought one because it looked like every other black G-10 knife out there. Yes I like the lock but couldn't bring myself to buy it. Now I just placed an order for the 730 with the maroon and black G-10 handle. I guess I got tired of that look and wanted something different. Don't worry that is a great price and someone will buy it off u.

I'm with St. James, I bought a 710, but mostly because it had the axis lock and I wanted a knife with a four inch blade. I really like the 720, clean lines, practical blade length. I bought one as a gift, and now I want one for myself!

Yeah! Drop the chalupa...

Yea, I like the knife too. Just mainly venting my frustrations because I WAS having trouble selling mine so I could get a Synergy. Finally sold it though. Someday soon when I get a better job (marine) I won't have to hawk all of my knives (sniff) to try out the new ones!

Let me suggest that it might just be a problem with timing. Right after Christmas is a hard time for a lot of people to come up with extra cash, even for a great deal. Glad you found a home for it, though.

I agree about the timing, I was not able to sell my 750 for $80.00 either and it is a perfect one. Positive posts and activity on a knife are not indicative of an easy sell on the forums. I have decided to just keep it, I don't know what I was thinking anyway.
