Everyone loves a tin chirra

It is beautiful Uncle Yvsa, and it does appear to be ivory as the add states! 2 days ago a nice bone handled diu chirra sold for about $200, and it had a nice sheath with coral and other goodies on it. I need to win the lottery :D

Oh wow. That's a beauty. I'm a sucker for chubby blades like that and I really needs to get me one o' them tin chirras in the near future... With a wood handle 'cause up here in Canada, horn shrinks like there's no tomorree.

Richard, this is proof positive that you are no longer allowed to own quality kukris in Deutschland. Please safely package all kukris belonging to yourself and your friends and label the box "Factory Seconds:Bent farm implements". No need to ship them to me, my mother will be back in Germany in the next month or two. Please have her in for "Eine Tasse Kaffee und vielleicht ein einiger Kuchen. Viele Dank, Stefan" :D

JP, thanks for the clarification. I am able to tell usually when the picts are close up and good resolution, but not on this one. What tipped you off that it was bone and not ivory? Thanks in advance, stevo

Edit: I looked again at the handle close up and I think now I know. It looks a little too white, and it has small little "pock marks" that bone gets. Is that what you saw also?

This one is pretty obvious since this style with the horn or dyed bone spacer at the pommel is always bone. You can also see the marrow flecks that mar the surface. This isn't a real high quality kukri in spite of the blade style.

JP, I have never handled one like this before, so I am guessing here~The dark spacer is used like a cap, due to the large marrow canal?
