Things are pretty messed up here. I am lucky in that we live very close to a power company station, so if we go down we are usually among the first to go back up. Parts of the city are projected to be without power for a WEEK.

I know this extends at least down KY, WV, VA, and surrounding areas because my inlaws have been driving to NC and got stuck at one point because all the gas stations were without power, then ended up sleeping in their car last night because all hotels are booked.

I know it seems like "how would they be online without power?", but people always find a way. Everyone knows someone with a droid or iphone. Just curious if any Beckerheads are affected right now. In Ohio, the wind speeds of Fridays storm was up to 85mph.

my cousin in central VA got power back last night, but I don't think the recovery is even.

That was an awesome picture.

We didn't even get rain around here. But I'm also not near the east coast. :(

Wow, I can't believe this heat wave going on right now. 118 in Kansas? That's Phoenix weather. Damn. Massive power outages? You guys back east are not having a good time. Everybody stay cool and hydrated if you can.

I was east of Zanesville this morning and heard the power outtage was pretty widespread. A cashier I talked to said some people were being told it might be the 8th before power is restored. I live in Clinton Co. and we've had some outtages but I think most of it's been restored.

Got bad news for ya bub, "lucky" isn't the way I'd describe it. I did a few responses to power stations in Iraq. Lucky isn't the descriptive term I'd use afterwards.

I was driving down to Cinci from Columbus and got hit on 71. It wasn't too bad though, lots of wind and rain. I wish I could've taken a picture but I didn't want to risk it with the already bad weather.

Me and the Fam, got very lucky and dodged most of the storm and the aftermath.
It went over us, but we only caught part of it and it was moving fast so it hit us and passed by before it could destroy our place.
If the storm had lasted longer it would have been disastrous.

Hope everybody gets bact to normal real soon. I don't know what it is about where I live but we lose power everytime a sparrow farts! It sucks. Hope all goes well!

Just the edge of a storm here, was raining crazy hard for about a half hour. No power outages that I know of.

No storms or outages here..but it's HOT! and drier then a skeleton's fart....we are one careless spark away from a fire. Hope people aint morons with their fireworks.

AWESOME pic there C-tanner. We have not had any outages yet. If we do, i will certainly miss the A/C in our house. We do have fans & i do have a generator though. Just a reminder for others with Generators: make SURE you don't back feed into the grid/so shut off your main breaker FIRST. We had 2 power guys killed in NY around 1990-ish from people that forgot to shut off their main breaker & hooked up their generators using "pigtails" into the wall plugs. Thats why this state's code is now an "auto transfer switch."

I don't have a generator hooked up but a very good point regardless

My office is on the power grid that powers Wall St. and my house is on the power grid that powers Verizon so all is good in the hood.

We were without power for a few days here in NW central Ohio. Our neighborhood didn't get much damage but close by, there are HUGE trees down everywhere. Was a funky storm, to be sure.
