Everything I buy seems to want to hang from my belt... So I bought a nice belt!

All of nicest knives have belt sheaths. All of my handguns have belt holsters. All of my pants are bit too big. I have had the same belt for many years and never really thought about it. I recently started carrying a handgun, and realized how much a belt helps in comfort/concealability. I recently purchased a Rafter S double layer cowhide belt, they even had my size in stock (otherwise it's a 6 week wait)! I get it on Friday. Tell me about your belt, post a picture if you like.

When I recieve a shoulder of leather for sheathmaking I will cut a couple of wide belt straps from it to make belts. I had an very good chunk of leather perfectly free of any defects many years ago where I cut a nice thick 10-12 oz 2 inches wide and has carried my hardware well all these years.

2 inch belt buckles are hard to get so I made my own buckle from a solid piece of brass and used stainless 1/8 th thick rod for the belt pin. Brass is easy to work with, using drills, files, a go on the belt sander and a quick stop at the buffer I have my own unique belt and buckle.

Got any pictures? I don't know what it is about leather, but it a fantastic material. I have a fascination with leather boots, sheaths, holsters, belts, etc. I've worked a little leather, just sheaths for knives I've made. Completing my first sheath was almost as satisfying as completing the knife that went in it. Leather comes from nature, and I have to find a material that matches its properties that is made by man.

I had the one I wear most made by Ken Null when He made the holster for my P7M8, both are made from horsehide and even after 20 years of wear they still look good.

I bought the Milt Sparks gun belt that is cut on a curve to increase comfort and reduce break-in time. After 5 years (including a lot of backpacking, hunting, and canoeing) it's still in great shape. However, I did have to wait quite a few weeks for it to be made.
