About 18 months or so ago I was lurking in the Schrade Forum and I saw this pic that Charlie (Waynorth) posted. It was a photo of a big Schrade Walden English Jack.
I thought then, as I do now, that it is one of the most elegant traditional knives that I have ever seen.
I printed the picture and took it along to Blade 2010 were I was collecting a large single blade trapper from Tom Overynder.
When I met up with Tom I showed him the picture and he agreed to make me the knife for Blade this year. He did it with original Remington bone, Gold shield and Carpenters new PM steel. I also had it made single blade as I am a huge single blade fan.
When I saw it I was blown away. Tom's attention to detail is amazing and the knife is a work of art. I just cannot put it down.
To see something old and classic remade with modern materials and skills is really fantastic and this one will have pride of place in my traditional collection.
Thanks for posting that pic Charlie!
Coop shot the knife and here are the two pics.
