I settled into bed last night feeling that kind of dead tired that usually justifies falling asleep on the couch. Around 3 AM I woke up from my dreams being too troubling, but I was too tired to stay awake and calm down. Usually when I go back to sleep after a nightmare, I have more nightmares, so you can imagine my disinclination toward that. So I grabbed my Sher kami M-43, the one that chose me, and tucked it under my pillow. Lo and behold, for the rest of the night I had good dreams and woke up refreshed and relaxed. So evidently it works.

I will have to try that.

My nightmares mostly involve my job. Waking up on weekdays is never fun. Maybe bringing my M43 will help! :D

been having some doozy lately myself. I hate stress dreams.
Gonna give this a shot myself.

Just make sure that the Khukuri can't be easily dislodged from the sheath and turn everything into a horrible nightmare.

Used to do the same thing. Heck, my chosen tool is the sumi brush, I would sleep better if I had a couple under my pillow, but that would ruin the brushes, and with my luck and my active sleep habits, I'd probably poke my eye out with the handle or something...:(
Oh well. Peace.
David

I'm going to do this for awhile and see what is up.....
I took meds last night because of back pain and put my UB memorial Salyan under my pillow.
Previous meds didnt help that much.

This morning i feel more rested than i have in awhile ( i only slept about 4 hrs) and mostly pain free, except for being a bit stiff.

I'd never advocate actually bringing the M-43 to work, but I have to imagine that people would be much more polite after seeing it.

Hopefully it works out for you. Stress is bad enough in the waking hours. If you don't mind my asking, what kind of meds do you take, and for what kind of back pain?

It's hard to tell. My M-43 doesn't lodge in the sheath at all, but I think that scares the bad dreams. They know how easily the khuk can cut them asunder. Also I use two pillows, which seems to help.

Tramadol for the pain somtimes and sometimes clonopin for stress and pain relief. Clonopin seems to work better than the tramadol. Stress causes muscle tenseness which aggrivates the three subluxed discs right between my shoulderblades whish aggrivates the 2 subluxed discs in my lower neck area. When any of these get going i can get nagging aching/shooting pains in my neck and in my shoulders down to my elbows and at times my neck will lock out in a head down position. The rotator cuffs in both shoulders are also nearly shot. Many times this situation will pinch nerves so serverely that i'm in excruciating pain. I also have a Sacriliosis(itis), i cant remember which, but it does pretty much the same things to my lower back, this is because of stupidity in that i tried to lift and carry too much when i was younger and had a couple injuries there. One of which left my legs paralysed for about a week. The only way i keep ahead of it is to do physical therapy excercise, take meds only when needed and watch what i lift/push/carry. Too many years of contsruction labor, foundry work and wax floor care have taken their toll. I need to find a desk job with internet access, so i can make money and still be here to help Auntie and have time/money enough to excercise more...... My hip bones and my butt gets sore because i'm sitting here more than i should.

I shared this with Auntie before- Had a really scary nightmare during dusk and i remember Auntie told me about the red scabbard on my Salyan ; the flamboyant red is to amplify the fiery nature of it. Had it beside my bed and i slept pass my alarm clock!

There's a saying here that if you have many sharp stuffs both good and bad luck will evade you as the aura is too imposing.
Dorje is known to ward away evil spirits.

Would like to see Rajkumar makes more Shiva knives on the future.

Hope you feel better, Karda.

I got an email that just reminded me that if you sleep with a special duck under your pillow, you'll dream about a cave full of one legged dancing girls and be surrounded by highly sought after Durba-made khuks.

...of course, good luck keeping that grouchy duck quiet enough to get any z's in the first place:P

Those of you that have been around long enough will know what I'm talking about:D

I've seen him here lurking in the shadows off and on. He even posted a couple of times.
I might not have noticed except for the fact that his webbed feet make him not as stealthy as he thinks he is.....;)

Don't let that warm comforting feeling from your khuk be the blood from a severed ear.

And yes, THE DUCK does still haunt the electronic hallways of the internet, and the shadowy corners of the cantina.

I feel like there's a story here to be told and a chuckle to be had.

I won't spoil the fun, but doing a serch of the archives for The Duck would be more than fruitful. Basically, The Duck is the HI forum's Lorax. He is said to be older than time itself and covets khuls made by a kami by the name od Durba. Durba khuks are HIGHLY sought after. We'll put it this way, I've been here a decade and never handled one:eek:
He's said to haunt a cave in Florida with a beautiful gaggle of one-legged dancing girls (whom he hordes like Durba khuks).

At times, he is known to make his presence known in the cantina by gracing we mere mortals with his posts consisting of strange dialect of broken English and odd syntax . At other times, on quiet windless nights, you can hear his echoing call ghosting off the silent hills...."Durba! Durba! Durba!"

So are the ways of The Duck!

i sleep with a shillelagh next to my bed this thing hurts like a mother! one crack to the temple with the little knobby side and its good night sweet prince. root grown oak, fully seasoned, fire blackened, and re-greened. This cudgel has all the strength and vitality of a living tree.

Don't youz Guys ever do any reading in the Cantina Library?
The DUCK goes by many names (mostly because his oldtimers makes him forget his passwords) but only those that bribe with durbas know them all......

I'm fairly concluded that common sense was never my strong suit to begin with. I remember hearing the name Durba before. Are his blades really that good? I mean, did he make a better blade than Bura?

Without making too much of a discussion of the subject of taking a life, this came up between a friend and me. I offered up a rule of thumb like this: assume that taking any life for any reason will result in a life sentence. For me, that means that the only reason I have to take a life is that prison is better than being dead or losing a loved one.

So as to avoid de-railing the original discussion of bedside dream wardens, how did you come by your shillelagh? Jersey is a far cry from the rocky road to Dublin, whack fol la de da.

you can order them online my dad paid big for a true Irish one but mine is made by American hands . but compared I like mine more. all in all the guy spends a year to make a his shillelaghs between drying and regreening
