I'm talking about a long sharp pointy blade for going hog hunting with !

I know John only makes knives to order now but I thought it would be fun to see some designs of what kinda pig sticker you'd like to see John make !;):thumbup:

I was thinking of maybe something like this....

Wow. I was thinking the same thing over the weekend.
A large double edged dagger type of thing.
Maybe without a handle, but with a way to afix it to a staff.

I think something like a 7" Lobo with a 1/4" guard top and bottom and a long clip point would work well. I`m off to do a cardboard cutout. ;)
 
Just a dumb question(you should expect that from me). Why a clip point and not a spear point?
 
It looks meaner. A clip might help getting in since it has a smaller front(like between ribs/bones). A wide bladed spear point might not go in as easily and be too bulky blade. Not sure but that is what I am guessing.

I think a finger grove or top guard might be important in keeping a firm grip. Also, I think the tip should be centered or slightly lower. They must have those really wide blades, since those hogs have some mass to them.

A subtle blade sweep is great. A straight, barrel handle preferred. Having trained for many years in martial arts, that type of handle allows for multiple grips and ease of transition. As far as my preference, I never stab as much as slice, gross motor vs fine motor. A long blade isn't necessary unless hide or clothes are in the way. The knife looks like a fighter to me!
