Hi just wondering

I have 3 evo grips and 4 classic SAKs and love them all

However it seems that even though the classics don't looks as fancy they seem to be built a bit tougher and better (at least for me)
eg: The classic springs for all the tools seem firmer when opening

Anyone else experience this ?

Yeah I guess it's because the evos are originally Wenger models and they are built a little differently, use different tool designs (except maybe the new can opener and awl?).

The Evolution series is part of the Delemont collection and indeed come from Wenger, which was bought out by Victorinox.
IIRC, in the closing days of Wegner they designed the Evos. Vic kept them in the lineup.
Anyways, also from different factories.

For now, anyway. The 85mm Delemonts will supposedly be discontinued at the end of the year.

Ah True. Maybe from the mechanics used . Eg the big screw driver locks when you push hard (guessing)

I liked some of the models but it was the evogrip put me off I don’t buy anything with the soft grip handle or covering. It sticks to fluff, and the grip goes to sticky after a while and eventually to gooey.
But mostly just makes the knife thick.

I have a red Evogrip or two without the soft insert. While it subtracts a bit from the standard SAK image, I see it as a more “interesting” (sophisticated?) shape.
