Evolution of Cutlery

Well said! If only more people knew the history and understood it's use as a tool. Too many people assume out of ignorance you're carrying a knife as a weapon.

Damn awesome Brian. I had to share it on FB.

Thank you Bob, I'm glad you enjoyed the post.

Thank you JD! I agree this is a problem. I think the idiots and mall ninjas on you tube and various forums have had the spot light for far too long. It is a situation I am taking a personal interest in, and attempting to address in several ways.

Great article. It got me thinking about the history of knives and the progression of stone to the increasingly more effective metals. Any good books on the subject that you would recommend?

Thank you. As a writer now I do not read as much as I once did, and most of the books I read years ago I don't remember. But I have done a lot of interviews with friends in the industry who have been forging for decades and studying the craft longer and they all have lots of books on the subject, so I will ask them for suggestions.

Guns, Germs, and Steel

I love the movies, they are on you tube.

Great Article, Brian!!!

This is one reason that Doug Ritter and Knife Rights pushing to have knives protected under our Second Amendment concerns me. Pretty much any highly portable solid object can be weaponized if you think about it, but not everything can make such an awesome and versatile tool. When I voiced that opinion in a group there several agreed with me, but then pointed out that the problem was that our constitution guarantees us the right to bear arms, it does not guarantee us the right to own tools. Yet I still feels some concerns with the fate of the knife, having been developed as our most versatile tool for much longer than firearmms, is now attached to the fate of guns, and subject to the same stigmatization by the same uneducated fools.
