After acquiring a small collection of folders, my drawer was not a good option for storing the knives. Initially used a rubber mat in the dresser drawer, but needed more capacity and wanted to prevent bumping them together. Tried the Spyderco case, but clumsy to use and not very visible

Found the Plano 1701 storage boxes and it is fantastic. Will fit large folders like my ZT 560 and only the very wide ZT 300 required modifying the case. Now I have lots of room and easily rotate my EDC.

Let me know what you think.

I use the "deep" version of the Stowaway for my fixed blades (not the sheaths, of course) and couldn't be happier. I have a lot of Plano containers, from ammo cans to rolling bins, and they have stood up to a lot of moving and less-than-gentle handling.

I've been using the Plano (1700 I think) for awhile and it works well for larger folders. It will easily carry 16 large folders. I use a thin layer of foam packing to separate the 2 knives in each compartment. If you have smaller folders it could perhaps carry 36 of them. I bought mine at WalMart a year or two ago.

A month ago I want to Walmart to buy another Plano and they didn't have any, but they had this smaller model from another brand. Turns out it will hold all of my EDC rotation and I put all of the other stuff in the bigger Plano. The compartments in this one are a bit smaller so you have to squeeze a little bit to get a larger folder like a ZT 0561 or Manix 2 XL in it.
