I'm pleased with my "checkering"

Maybe inscribed diamonds would be a better description, since its not deep enough to get any pyramid shape for the fairly large pattern. Could use a final fine sanding and polish to remove a few scratches from skipouts. I'll try to get a digitized photo.

Doesn't take much to improve the grip, and I think your'e correct that true checkering with full points would take the hide off one's hand after a little work. Especially if any of that nice skin-softening lanolin from dressing the handle was on the surface!
