Exchange forums?

A quick question about the exchange forums form some of yall that may have some experience with them, are they trustworthy and reliable? by that I mean, are there a lot of counterfeit knives floating round out there or maybe identity fraud scams? Maybe Im just paranoid...any input would be greatly appreciated

Generally speaking, the exchange forums are very reliable. It is self-regulating, folks who try monkey-business don't last long. I have never had problems with any of the transactions I've been involved in on the exchange. If you're concerned about a particular seller, you can check the "Feedback: The Good the Bad and the Ugly" forum, and check the seller's I-trader rating.

What he said. It's a small closed community and BG or even people who ship late or send knives that are slightly worse than the ad are pounced on. Buy with confidence. BTW if your looking for a bargain on a specific knife, scan the sales section several times a day and if it shows up, pull the trigger. When someone has to wean their collection for whatever reason and offers a Randall #1 for $300 or a used small Sebenza for $250, they tend to be bought really quickly.

there have been a few scammers to show up here. you can read some of the threads in the good, the bad, and the ugly forum. in addition to the feedback, we use that forum to identify good and bad deals.

in all my years of buying and selling (and trading), i have only had one transaction that went bad. i purchased a knife that was never received, but got a paypal refund after filing the dispute. the guy just up and disappeared.

the vast majority of bad deals here come down to poor communications amongst the parties. there are very very few that turn out to be rip offs or scams.

Besides the Itrader and GBU ratings, you can get a feel for a person by their involvement in the forums. If he has one post, joined the forum the day before yesterday and is offering some great deal, I'm going to pass. If, on the otherhand, he (or she) has been around a while, participates and seems somewhat active, I'd be more confident. I've never had a problem here and have been buying (and selling) since 06. Some of the dealers in the dealers exchange forum are truly outstanding.
