Hello!

Does anyone happen to have experience about knives with exchangeable
blades?

Any positive/negative?

I (myself) am thinking of the Boker Optima System...

With thanks

I was wondering the same thing. Anyone had experinece with the replacable blade knives. Something like the TigerSharp knife. The TV ad sells it goods. Zero tolerance between blade and frame, no animal hair.. nothing to clean up. I have a Wyoming knife and love it for its ease of use for the initial skinning of a deer. Only purpose though, no good for quartering and such, but worth its price for saving me from hitting the gut sack. Any ideas / opinions welcomed.

Several years ago I purchased a large Boker single blade lock back folder which came with two blades that are easily interchangeable (no other disassembly required). One blade is stainless steel I believe, and the other is actually ceramic. I was impressed with the fit and finish of the knife, and overall I have nothing but good things to say about the package. I've kept this one as more of a show piece so I can't provide any real performance feedback. I still have the original box and should be able to find more specific model info if you're interested.

I've dressed, skinned and boned out probably 15 or 20 deer with Buck Selector folders over the years--back when I still had my sanity (before I could afford customs). I still keep a couple Selectors around. I especially liked the option of having a razor sharp straight edge blade for skinning and boning, and a fully serrated blade I could pop right in, for rough work like going through joint cartilage. Excellent package!

You can find the knife and the available blades at Boker's web site (select Optima from the pop-up menu). Among the available blades are a saw, a ceramic blade, and a damascus blade.
