Hello out there to all our blade enthusiast and thank you from Andy and myself for your continued support, we appreciate you and we want you to know it! We do things old school at fiddleback, each one of the 18 knives Andy and I build each week our just that handmade, Every step that means from cradle to grave that we take these blades and handles and breathe life into them. Occasionally things dont go the way you planned them and you have to adapt and overcome to still complete "The mission." Enter the newest member of the Fiddleback family the F2, thats what I am calling it for now short for Fin and Feather. This blade shape was originally a hiking buddy that fell into the gap in between the wheel and platform while profiling and ruined that particular knife. True to my Marine roots, I had to put a postive twist on this accident and benefit from the experience somehow and ended up grinding out a sweet little knife. Right away you will think of an old shape made by schrade or old timer, Andy called it a sharp finger. Thats where the inspiration came from and we are excited about bringing you guys new things. I would like to open the floor for suggestions on a name for this new knife that will debut tomorrow. The only rules are that anyone besides Eric M. can name or purchase this knife. He can not because he made fun of my socks at bladeshow, tough luck Eric..... maybe next time, just kiddin. Semper Fi- Ron

Too cool. I can't wait to see what the folks at Fiddleback have to offer this time! I love the fact that no opportunity is missed and nothing is wasted: inspiration is everywhere if your eyes are open! You guys rock, and tomorrow's Fiddleback Friday is now going to be extra exciting thanks to this announcement.

I know it's a little long but I actually really like the name "Fiddleback Fin and Feather". Lots of people have "Bird and Trout" knives and I don't know, I just think that staying true to that format but putting a clever alliterative spin on it like that is kind of neat and funny. I really like the way it sounds

Other than Fin and Feather I think personally I'd have better luck coming up with a name after seeing a picture! I'm not asking you guys to post a picture, the anticipation of knowing it is coming tomorrow is way more fun, I'm just making an excuse for my lack of creativity at the moment haha.

Well, I know the Ladyfinger is the knife Andy considers his B&T but additional models with a similar intent are not a bad thing. With it being smaller than the Ladyfinger you may go with something more inspired from fly fishing and call it a Brooky or something along those lines or maybe lean more toward bird hunting and call it a Fowler or something along those lines. Just throwing out ideas off the top of my head.

Fiddleback Fishfinger? I kid I kid :D

If I were to suggest a name based on what I'd likely use a knife of that size for most frequently then it would have to be called the Fiddleback Mackerel, but that doesn't sound very good haha. Fiddleback Chubb might give someone the wrong impression :p Fiddleback Pheasantfinger? Hahaha seriously guys, I've got nothing.

Gamesman

Actually, I like Fishfinger and Gill & Gizzard.
I'll have to see it to know what fits it best. Guppie? Parakeet?

Sockeye made me laugh - especially with the short backstory.

"Guppy" had crossed my mind as well. I do like that name. I think Gamesman is a cool name too but out of all the blade styles offered by Fiddleback when you say "Gamesman" I think of something more along the lines of the Recluse. That's just my take on it, of course.

What about the Fiddleback Finesse? I was thinking about this and if the Ladyfinger is the current go-to Bird and Trout knife and this is something like a small Bird and Trout knife (which I can only assume it is based on the description provided by Devil Dog Knives, and by the name "Fin and Feather") then "Finesse" is actually kind of a cool and appropriate name IMO. The fact that it's a feminine word keeps it aligned to the Ladyfinger, making it something of an accompanying knife for the Ladyfinger, and from the description it does literally sound like a knife that would be good for delicate or "finesse" work. PLUS you have a sort of double entendre with the fact that it's probably going to make a decent boning knife for smaller fish and you've got the word "fin" hidden in the word finesse. Just throwing it out there!

My wife tells me I'm a bit of a smart ass, so this is probably a defining moment for me because the first idea that popped into my hollow noggin was... Are ya ready for it?

The Buckshot Fisherman.

Maybe there's an easy way to manipulate the spalting that Andy does, or a surface etch pattern, to make small, round patterns in the blade flats to add some emphasis to the idea.

I will suggest "Perdo", it's Latin for ruin which it almost was. Or maybe the "Fiddleback Phoenix", since it arose from a shower of sparks.

How about calling it it the Fiddleback middle finger?!:D Just kidding. Seriously, I like the sound of the Fiddleback Caddis Fly. Hard to throw out a name with out a pic. Can't to see what you all have come up with!
