Will this be combo edge only, or will there be a plain edge version? Thanks
 
Came in the mail yesterday and I have got to say Cold Steel really upped their game. The action is very smooth, the blade is razor sharp and the DLC blade coating is beautiful. The Recon 1 is much larger than I expected though. Still on the fence if I will use it or not as my preferred EDC size is 3 1/2" or smaller. Hopefully XHP will be offered in the American Lawman and the Mini Recon 1 soon. Good work Cold Steel!
 
XHP is tough stuff if heat treated and profiled properly.
I don't care for the serrations or tanto point at all, so maybe I will hold out for a future run of clip pt/plain blade?
I'm just excited to see something other than AUS-8 on the Recon :)

That's why I didn't get one. I'm not a fan of serrations in most cases(especially CS's, since they are focused more on "tactical/cutting flesh" uses rather than utility), and I like combo edge knives even less. Throw in that it's a tanto, which I also don't really care for, and count me out on this once. Once a plain edge clip or spear point model is released, then I'll bite.

Seen a couple video's where it had just as good edge retension as M390 too so excited to try one of these. Had a Spyderco in XHP but didn't have it long enough to see how good it was.

Me too.

Speaking of hold out wish they would make a XHP version of this one.

When you roll out the XHP next year on the recons will there be an option to get no blade coating? I prefer the stone washed and DLC will be a little tough to remove.
 
I have two already, and EDC one of them. XHP takes care of any fragility in the serrations and keeps an edge very nicely.

I'll grab the AK-47 when it comes out in XHP. I think a tanto AK-47 would be a great alternative to the ZT 560.
 
I am waiting on an American Lawman with this steel. (A drop point Recon 1 would be okay, but the AL is preferred). Any idea when this will be coming out?
